This is where futures begin. 🎉🎓 Welcome to the EChem Family! 🎓🎉 High school offers have officially been released, and we are thrilled to congratulate and welcome the newest members of The Early College High School of Emergency Medicine! 💙💛 Today we are excited to share a glimpse into the incredible opportunities, experiences, and community that make our school so special. This is just a preview of what you have to look forward to, and there is so much more ahead. 🚑🔥 At EChem, students do not just attend high school. They launch their futures. From hands-on healthcare experiences and industry certifications to college-level coursework and powerful partnerships across New York City, our students grow, lead, and prepare to make a real impact in their communities and beyond. We are especially proud to welcome our largest incoming 9th grade class ever, with more than 160 students joining the EChem community this fall. 📈 📢 Save the date! 🚑✨ ECHEM ON FOX 5! NYC, MEET THE FUTURE OF EMERGENCY MEDICINE. ✨🚑 EChem just made its debut on Fox 5’s 5 O’Clock News, and our EMT seniors delivered an absolutely outstanding performance. Inside our state-of-the-art ambulance simulator, students demonstrated a full NYS EMT patient assessment on a patient presenting with shortness of breath — and Fox 5 captured it all. 🦁💛💙 During their assessment, students: 🔥 Identified respiratory distress during the primary assessment 🔥 Initiated appropriate treatments and managed the scene professionally 🔥 Noticed the patient become apneic and pulseless during the secondary assessment 🔥 Transitioned immediately into CPR 🔥 Assigned roles, initiated BLS interventions, and rotated positions to maintain high-quality compressions This wasn’t just a simulation — it was a real demonstration of teamwork, clinical judgment, and adherence to NYS EMT protocols in a high-stress scenario. Our students showed NYC what EChem does best: preparing future first responders with confidence, skill, and purpose. 💃🏽🕺🏽 EChem HAD THE MOVES! 🔥🎶 The rhythm was contagious, the energy was incredible, and our EChem community showed UP! 🇩🇴🇵🇷🇨🇺🇲🇽🇨🇴 Yesterday, we turned up the music and hit the dance floor as we welcomed Piel Canela Dance School, NYC’s largest Latin dance school, for an unforgettable Salsa and Bachata experience in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month! 🎉 From learning new steps to showing off some impressive moves, our students and staff came together for an afternoon filled with music, laughter, cultural appreciation, and community! ❤️ More than just dancing, this experience was an opportunity to celebrate the rich traditions, history, and cultural contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. Through movement and music, our students experienced firsthand how dance connects generations, preserves cultural identity, and brings people together. 🌎✨ 👏🏽 A HUGE thank you to our partners at Piel Canela Dance School for sharing their passion, talent, and expertise with our school community and to everyone who helped make this celebration a success! 🎁 BUT WAIT, THE DANCING DOESN’T STOP HERE! 🌎🏙️ FROM THE CLASSROOM TO THE COMMUNITY: AP HUMAN GEOGRAPHY IN ACTION! 🏮📍 Who says learning has to happen within four classroom walls? At EChem, our students are discovering that some of the most powerful learning experiences are waiting right in our own backyard! 🗽📚 This week, students in Mr. Rivera and Mr. Collura’s AP Human Geography classes transformed the vibrant streets of NYC’s Chinatown into a living classroom, exploring how culture, community, and geography intersect to shape the world around us! 🌏✨ 🔎 Three Days. Three Unique Perspectives. One Incredible Learning Experience! 🏮 Monday | Mott Street: Students explored one of Chinatown’s most recognizable tourist destinations, examining how culture, commerce, and tourism influence the neighborhood’s landscape. 🏙️ Tuesday | East Broadway: Students observed the rhythms of everyday life, documenting local businesses, grocery markets, housing infrastructure, and the activities of community members. 🌳 Wednesday | Sara D. Roosevelt Park: Students investigated how public spaces bring communities together, observing and even participating in recreational and leisure activities! Throughout the experience, our young geographers collected low-inference observational data, carefully documenting what they saw without jumping to conclusions. Now, back in the classroom, they are putting their critical thinking skills to work, using that evidence to develop high-inference conclusions about cultural identity, human behavior, and how communities modify their physical environments to meet their needs. 🧠📊 👏 A huge shout-out to Mr. Rivera and Mr. Collura for designing an authentic, inquiry-driven learning experience that connects rigorous AP coursework to the world beyond our school doors! 💙 At EChem, we believe learning should be meaningful, relevant, and connected to the communities around us. Part 2 of our Career Day throwback! The best part of the day? The conversations. In classrooms across the school, our student moderators led Q&As and asked real questions: What does a typical day look like? How did you get here? Is college the only way? What do you wish you’d known at our age? Our guests answered honestly, from the wins to the detours, and our students left with advice they can use now: build your network early, say yes to experiences, and stay curious. We were also proud to welcome back an ECHEM alum who now works in the field. They’re proof of what this school can launch.
