ECHO is evolving.

What began as environmental advocacy is becoming something more intentional, a lifestyle-led movement rooted in Jamaica.

Because sustainability is not a campaign.
It’s a discipline.

Through conscious living, climate education, and community action, ECHO exists to remind us that protecting the earth is our obligation — not a trend.

We chose the planet.

Welcome to ECHO 2.0. 🍃♻️

Jamaica is surrounded by water. 🇯🇲🌊

From the beaches we visit to the waters that sustain our communities, our coastline is part of our everyday lives, and protecting it is a responsibility we all share.
This International Coastal Cleanup Day, ECHO Jamaica ambassador Shannon Andrade is putting that responsibility into action and reminding us that caring for Jamaica means caring for the places that give us so much.

We are surrounded by water. Let’s start acting like it.

ECHO JAMAICA

Jamaica is surrounded by water. So why do we treat our coastline like it belongs to somebody else?

Last year, 7,986 volunteers took part in Jamaica’s International Coastal Cleanup activities, removing 77,090 pounds of waste across all 14 parishes. That is thousands of people showing up to clean up a problem they didn't create alone.

But here’s the uncomfortable part:
A beach cleanup can remove the waste. It cannot, by itself, stop the waste from being produced. Plastic bottles. Food packaging. Disposable containers. The things we throw “away” still have somewhere to go.

There is no away.

So today, we clean what we can.
But we also ask harder questions about what we consume, what we discard, and what happens after we stop seeing it. Because protecting Jamaica’s coastline isn’t just about keeping the beach clean, it’s about changing our relationship with the place we call home.

Jamaica is surrounded by water. Act like it. 🌊🌿

🌍 World Environment Day 🌱

This year, I had the privilege of joining an environmental clean-up initiative organised by YTB, bringing together participants from different countries in a shared commitment to protecting our environment.

Together, we carried out clean-up activities in Üsküdar and Aydos Millet Bahçesi, demonstrating that environmental stewardship is not only about restoring polluted spaces, but also about preserving and enhancing the beautiful places we already enjoy.

What makes this reel especially meaningful to me is that it features my very first voice-over in Turkish. 🇹🇷

As someone who is still learning the language, stepping outside my comfort zone and sharing this message in Turkish felt both exciting and rewarding. There may be a few imperfections along the way, but every conversation, every new word, and every experience is part of the journey.

Environmental conservation has always been at the heart of my advocacy through ECHO (Environmental Conservation and Humanity’s Obligation). Being able to continue that mission here in Türkiye while connecting with people from different cultures reminds me that protecting our planet is a truly universal responsibility.

A sincere teşekkür ederim to YTB for organising this initiative and creating an opportunity to serve, learn, and build community through environmental action.

Small actions. Shared purpose. A greener future. 🌿

“Treat every day of the year as Earth Day.”

A reminder that responsibility is not seasonal.
It’s daily. It’s lived.

We chose the planet. 🌎

Across oceans, landscapes, and borders,
the earth remains the same.

Some of my favourite moments in nature,
captured in different parts of the world.

A reminder that this isn’t something we own,
but something we’re responsible for.

No matter where we are,
the responsibility follows.

HAPPY EARTH DAY 🌎

We chose the planet. by @echo.jamaica

The ECHO Principles.

Not trends.
Not aesthetics.
Not temporary.

This is how we approach environmental responsibility, through conscious living, daily decisions, and accountability.

Because sustainability is not something we talk about.

It’s something we live.

We chose the planet.

Environmental advocacy cannot be seasonal.
It cannot be performative.
It must be lived.

ECHO welcomes Shannon Andrade-Bucknor as our Environmental Ambassador.

As she prepares to represent Jamaica on the international stage, her platform expands beyond the crown; into advocacy, environmental responsibility, and meaningful global representation.

Representation matters.
But responsibility matters more.

We love to say we’re proud to be Jamaican.

But pride is not passive.

If we celebrate our beaches, rivers, and mountains, we must also protect them.

Environmental responsibility is not separate from patriotism.
It is proof of it.

At ECHO, we believe loving Jamaica means living differently.

We chose the planet.

And we’re starting at home. 🇯🇲🌎♻️
