This was a fantastic project to be involved in! 🙏 Our team recently completed the full refurbishment and tank relining of two large concrete cold water storage tanks in central London ♻️ The water tanks existing epoxy coating had began to delaminate and severely blister in numerous locations ❌ Our team initially extensively prepared all internal surfaces 🛠 Ensuring the failed epoxy coating and all surface contaminants were completely removed. Both water tanks were then sealed and two coats of WRAS approved polyurethane were applied to all surfaces. Finally, upon completion of the project our operatives disinfected both water storage tanks and placed the system back online ☑️ • • • #tankreline #buildingservices #fm #facilitiesmanagement #waterstorage #tankreplacement #grpwatertank #coating #polyurethane #legionella #publichealth #london #waterindustry #epoxy #coolingtower #evapco #Bac #watertankrepair #processvessel #watertreatment #processtank #watertanks #polyurethane #sustainablesolution #concretetank #confinedspaces #concretewatertank by @echosquare_
Hollow GRP water tank roof support replacements recently completed at a maximum security site in Surrey📍 The sites 495,000 litre sectional GRP storage tank had been previously risk assessed by their water treatment service provider 📋 As part of the assessment’s non-conformities it was highlighted that the storage tanks hollow GRP roof supports were non-compliant with ACOP L8 guidelines ❌ Echo Square Services were selected to help assist in replacing all non-compliant hollow roof supports within the storage tank ✅ Our solution proved to be the most cost effective alternative in comparison to carrying out a more regular water tank disinfection regime ✅ Or completing a full water tank replacement of the non-complaint storage tank which was initially considered. Our team also installed support brackets to each solid GRP tank roof support to help ensure the water tanks tie rods had additional support ✅ Upon completion of our works the storage tank was cleaned and disinfected prior to placing the system back online ♻️ . . . #tankreline #buildingservices #fm #facilitiesmanagement #waterstorage #tankreplacement #grpwatertank #coolingtower #acopl8 #legionella #publichealth #london #waterindustry #concretewatertank#watertankrepair #processvessel #watertreatment #processtank #grpwater #watertanks #barbican #sustainablesolution #watertankrelining #tanklining #acopl8 #waterhygiene by @echosquare_
Echo Square recently completed the full water tank reline and refurbishment of a 120,000 litre concrete water tank for a major London hospital. The concrete water tanks internal surfaces were previously lined with an epoxy coating which had failed. The underside of the water tanks roof was also coated with a non-compliant bituminous coating and all steel supports between the roof sections were heavily corroded. Furthermore, the existing access into the tank was very poor with no fixed ladder in place. We therefore commenced the water tank refurbishment project by installing a compliant GRP ladder to the inside of the water tank.   The first stage of the water tank reline was to remove all existing non compliant coatings from all internal surfaces of the water tank and roof by utilising small mechanical hand tools.   Minor surface pitting was then filled with a polyurethane sealant.   Once all surface pitting was filled our operatives applied an epoxy resin based film primer to the water tanks internal concrete surfaces to consolidate the surface and improve adhesion of our polyurethane coating system. Following the application of the base primer we were in a position to apply a base coat (Grey) of ES 988 DWPU to all internal surfaces. Once cured, the above was then repeated with a top coat of (Blue) ES 988 DWPU. Once the coating had cured, the water tank was disinfected by the application of a 500ppm chlorine dioxide solution which was sprayed onto the water tanks internal surfaces. With the major refurbishment now complete, our client was in a position to be place the system back into service 💪 #nhs #tankliner #edpm #buildingservices #fm #facilitiesmanagement #tankreline #tankreplacement #lpc #plumbing #sustainable #coating #polyurethane #legionella #acopl8 #london #consultancy #epoxy #keraflo #watertankrepair #publichealth #watertreatment #sprinklertank #drinkingwater #tankcoating #waterhygiene by @echosquare_

🛠️ GRP Tank Refurbishment & Relining Project in Sheffield ✅ Echo Square recently completed the refurbishment of 2 No. duplex sectional GRP cold water storage tanks, while also replacing the tanks non-compliant hollow lid supports ✅ 🔎 What we found: The tanks were showing their age, with severe internal staining, surface deterioration, and corrosion visible on several fittings. Hollow lid supports were also present and required replacement to bring the tanks up to standard. Our solution ⬇️ 🧼 Drain, Clean & Prepare: Both tanks were drained, cleaned, and thoroughly dried. Internal surfaces were then manually prepared to create the correct surface profile for the new lining system. Excess mastic was removed from joints to allow trapped moisture to escape and ensure a strong bond. 🔧 Support Upgrade: Existing hollow lid supports were removed and replaced as part of the refurbishment works, improving compliance and long-term reliability. 🖌️ Strengthening the Joints: Before the main lining application, all joints were brush coated to increase coating thickness in these key areas, helping reinforce sections that experience the greatest movement and stress. 💧 Tank Relining: A full lining system was then applied across all internal surfaces, followed by a second coat to create a seamless, watertight barrier throughout both tanks. ✔️ Following curing, each tank was disinfected, refilled, and returned to service. 💡 Refurbishing existing assets through tank relining and component upgrades can often provide a more cost-effective alternative to replacement, while significantly extending operational life. 🚰 Looking to upgrade ageing cold water storage tanks? Whether it’s tank relining, structural repairs, or replacing non-compliant components, our team can help. 📩 info@echosquare.co.uk 📞 0800 7720 628 by @echosquare_

💧GRP Tanks & the Hidden Risk Lurking Inside🚰 Ageing GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) potable water tanks can develop a problem many duty holders overlook. Black spore mould forming on internal surfaces. Why does this matter? Even in small amounts, black mould can: 🔹Release spores into the stored water environment 🔹Affect water taste and odour 🔹Create a legionella risk 🔹Undermine the hygienic integrity of the tank The root cause is often degraded or porous GRP laminate, where years of chemical exposure, wear, or poor maintenance allow microbial growth to take hold. The solution? Prevention. Our WRAS-approved ES 988 DWPU polyurethane coating creates a fully sealed, non-porous, chemically resistant barrier inside the tank. ✔️ Mould can’t anchor or spread ✔️ Smooth, hygienic surfaces that are easy to clean ✔️ Long-term protection for potable water quality At Echo Square, we help clients across the UK and Ireland extend the life of their GRP tanks, eliminate mould risk, and protect water safety, without the cost of completing a full tank replacement. If you’re seeing signs of deterioration or black mould inside your tanks, it’s worth a conversation. Because when it comes to potable water, prevention is always better than cure.
