Ever since I got into recording, I’ve wanted a chance to capture a Tiny Desk concert for @npr . Nov 20, 2021; this dream became a reality.
To record @officialnortherncree in the Tsuut’ina Nation Pow-wow Arbor was such an honor; I’m immensely grateful for the opportunity. Thank you for having us as guests on your land and for allowing me to bear witness to such an event.

The raw power that this group preforms with is unlike anything I have ever worked on, and presents some unique challenges. Hearing them in a space designed for their voices and music was beyond beautiful.

Thank you @phenixwarren for assistant engineering, and congrats to @c.s.gomez and his team for the wonderful camera work.

More thank you’s to @dimestoremedicine, @yer_pal_hd & @nmc_canada for their contributions.

And thank you to Karolynn Mattern Photography (@kmattephoto) for these lovely shots 📸 taken in Treaty 7 Territory by @ecinnamon_

After nearly a decade with @nmccanada, it’s with many mixed emotions that I share I’ll be moving on.

Relocating to Montreal, I’m excited to be taking the next step as a freelance engineer and producer.

It’s difficult to overstate how much Calgary’s music community has shaped me, both personally and professionally. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to establish my career at the National Music Centre, and contributing to such an ambitious and inspiring project has been a privilege. Above all, I’m grateful for the countless artists and collaborators who have trusted me with their art along the way.

While Calgary will always be home, I can’t wait to get to know Montreal’s creative community and become part of the work happening there.

There are a lot of unknowns, and that’s what excites me most.

Impossible to condense all these years into 20 frames, but here are a few moments in time. Turn and face the strange! taken in Studio Bell / National Music Centre by @ecinnamon_
