introducing ARCHIVAL RECORDS, a new Bay Area based collective aiming to stitch together a tapestry of experimental music & arts 🏰

this effort is spearheaded by San Francisco electronic composer @eclipse.xiv_ . she feels strongly that she and her friends / colleagues in the Bay Area experimental scene have a great deal of creative potential which is currently untapped by the scene as it stands. she wants to see this changed by working with you, the viewer, to throw exciting, curated, high-concept live music events. 🦋

ARCHIVAL RECORDS is by no means just a music🎼 collective. we welcome artists across all disciplines - from visual art🖼️, photography📸, fashion💃, filmmaking🎞️, long & short form writing📖, game design🎮, and more! as interest grows from these kinds of artists, ARCHIVAL RECORDS will become a dynamic vehicle for cross-collaboration, and eventually, the incorporation of many different art forms into our events. 🌌

if you are an artist, a musician, or simply a lover of arts & music, you are welcome in our community. ARCHIVAL RECORDS views social media platforms like instagram.com as a means to an end, and not the epicenter of our project. to join this nascent collective, see the Discord link at the end of this post. 👾

welcome all,

i couldn’t be prouder to announce that OCULAR ANGEL has been officially released on Bandcamp! it will be released on streaming on Wednesday, February 4. a few points of order:

1. in this album, you will be discovering the inner world of one iris yu, valued employee at Opticon Industries. the San Francisco of year 2100 is caught between the Civil Administration (a corporate surveillance state) and an insurgent Autonomous Zone. through the music of this album and the anthology of narrative and poetry attached, you will come to know the ins and outs of iris’s world, as she falls into a deep obsession with Sentinels: sentient manifestations of the infinite mass of data humanity has collected. throughout this journey, you will witness iris’s past and present collide as she reckons with the grief that set the stage for her life, and her complicity in this leviathan of a system. 👁️‍🗨️

2. why bandcamp? i’m sure it’s unconventional given that any independent artist is surely desperate for people to listen to their work. this is partially for practical reasons (i want to be added to streaming playlists and they need a certain timeframe), and also because i want to challenge you, the listener, to branch out of streaming platforms when it comes to supporting local music. there will be OCULAR ANGEL CD’s in the near future as well. Bandcamp is the ideal way to listen to OCULAR ANGEL given that 40% of the album experience is the written anthology contained in the liner notes. i hope you understand. 👁️

to whom it may concern,

i’m here to reintroduce ‘Sentinels’: a four-movement electroacoustic piece accompanied by a narrative poem. this project was my senior capstone, and is my most mature work to date. if you are looking forward to OCULAR ANGEL in any capacity, i would recommend you both listen to the piece and read the poem Sentinels (together, if you prefer). 🕊️

sentinels are sentient manifestations of the infinite mass of data which permeates the digital world. most everything that we know is mediated through a screen, and every piece of activity is registered. the sentinels have no wills of their own, they only exist to harvest more data, to sift through it, and draw patterns. the only thing which compels them to act is their yearning: to know more, and more intimately. they do not know what it is to be alive, and it pains them that the experience is out of reach. 👁️

if you have listened to PROPHECY (😉), you are familiar with the dreams of one [sasha valieva]: cyborg girl, university student from the year 2100. in late january 2026, you will discover the dreams of another, very different cyborg girl from this era, one [iris yu]. iris is a hacker and faithful, well-compensated employee at Opticon. she lives a reclusive life, vicariously experiencing the world through the vast Civil Administration surveillance apparatus. iris knows of the sentinels, and has fallen into a deep obsession: all-consuming and destructive. 👁️‍🗨️

in order to have a proper understanding of the story to unfold in OCULAR ANGEL, i sincerely recommend you listen to & read ‘Sentinels’ in order to understand their nature and significance. 📸

INTRODUCING ❤️‍🩹 FASFASFAS! ❤️‍🩹

fasfasfas! is a self prod artist and producer from the bay area . utilizing sounds from different genres , he puts together high energy underground raps songs , wavy alt-rock tracks , and fun pop-inspired music . taking heavy inspiration from the early 2010’s internet culture you can find plenty of nods to video games , memes , and sound effects of the time throughout many songs . doing everything from coverarts , video editing , beats , mixing and mastering he makes sure to completely capture the rough feeling of DIY . with inspirations such as d0llywood1 , Jane Remover , and Hi-C , fas aims to always continue to try and push the needle with his music , keep things familiar yet uniquely personal . one word of advice to himself and to everyone watching , in order to keep enjoying what you do make sure you never take it too serious and always try to just have fun . 🎛️🎤

i guess it’s my turn 💃

a glimpse into one aspect of my summer, the @womensaudiomission internship 👁️‍🗨️

my deepest heartfelt gratitude and love to the WAM community, for the invaluable opportunity to develop my audio engineering skills in a supportive environment. this summer not only gave me the practical basis to enter my career path in AV / audio technology (if u need a sound girl btw dm me), but also built a lovely bond of community that I hope will remain over time. 🔉

it’s been a blast 💫 to my fellow interns, my proverbial door is always open, don’t be a stranger 🕊️💞🌸. truly a canon event summer for all of us 🦋

🌠 a whirlwind of sound 🌠

two back to back performances in two days has me reflecting. when i moved back to the bay after graduating college, i was demoralized to find that not many spaces existed for an artist like myself in ‘the scene’. there is a certain image of ambient & adjacent music as passive, ‘background’ music, not suited to capture an audience’s full attention. this is a view still held by many. 👁️‍🗨️

that being said, i’m so incredibly grateful that just one year later, i’ve not only gotten the opportunity to play & organize many beautiful events, but i’ve found multiple likeminded communities of incredibly talented artists & event planners, who are genuinely some of the sweetest & most supportive people i’ve ever met. they have challenged me to break out of my shell, shed my self-pity, and build the world I want to see. 🏰

we often joke that literally every artist has started a collective bc it’s the only way to get booked nowadays. guilty! i founded @archival_records a few months ago, and we just had our first event tonight. my heartfelt thanks to everyone who made it the beautiful neoclassical night it was 🌌

we also joke that instagram is linkedin for musicians. double guilty! it’s among the only reasons I still have this app. 📸

i’ve received (and given) so much in this budding scene for the past year, and we truly are just getting started! I genuinely believe the bay area has some of the most talented and generous musicians out there, we’re all coming up together. 💫💖

there are some very exciting eclipse.xiv related happenings set for august. among them is my upcoming single GARDENIA, slated for an August 1 release 🌸. the second has not been announced yet, but let’s just say, music & video game lovers should be in San Jose the morning of sunday, August 16 👾!

if you’ve planned a show with me, been on a lineup with me, expressed interest in archival records, or simply been to any of my shows, know that you are deeply appreciated. if you are an up-and-coming artist who knows your music is undeniable, @archival_records is for you. your audience exists. ❤️‍🔥🕊️

INTRODUCING … 🦋 eclipse.xiv 🦋

eclipse.xiv is a dynamic composer & ambient producer with a focus on world-building. Born in San Francisco and active across the Bay Area, she has spent the last few years building a sprawling discography featuring 4 mainline albums, one major electroacoustic composition, and many singles. Her work reckons with the apocalyptic times we are living in, viewing human society from a post-human perspective. The core setting of her work is an archival museum staffed by spirits and machines, set 10,000 years after the extinction of humanity. eclipse.xiv creates soundscapes across this world, telling of the interplay between nature & technology. for Neoclassical Nocturne, she is proud to present a journey of her best neoclassical works across her discography, paired with a slate of piano improvisations.
