Since a lot of you are new here I thought it would also be a good time to reintroduce myself…. Hi, I’m Erin. Brand strategist. Former fashion director and chief merchant at Selfridges, Browns, Harrods, and Avenue 32. I relocated from London to Naples four years ago, which means I traded grey skies for sunshine and somehow still consider that a complicated decision. Barneys New York is relaunching — in Naples, Florida. The new 10,000 square foot retail Mecca will be located in our very own Bayfront Marina development. Led by ex Saks exec Richard Cohen (who will also act as Chief Merchant) and funded by a group of investors including Eric Appelblom who formed a company called One Luxury Solutions. WWD confirmed that they have obtained exclusive access to the Barneys name for use in the state of Florida (for now) with other locations on the cards. But Naples will be the first and is expected to be open by the end of this year. WWD broke the story a few days ago and I have thoughts. Slip dresses have always been a weakness for me having spent my formative years listening to 90s punk and indie rock music. Courtney love, Gwen Stefani, the Breeders, the Cranberries, Veruca Salt, Elastica, PJ Harvey and Shirley Manson from Garbage were just some of the iconic women we grew up idolising. How lucky were we, what a time for music and fashion. I have often thought about starting my own brand but can never quite land on what exactly it would look like because my style changes so much depending on the day and my mood, but at my core I think I’m still that 16 year old wanna be punk rock chick in her slip dress and doc martens. Maybe it’s time to bring that 90s feeling to life again ?? In the meantime, here is a pretty yellow slip dress - this one is from last summer but I will link similar ones for you in my @shopmy.
