This is a wonderful article in Artnet about Ana Mendieta’s amazing legacy. Land art, the divine feminine, colonialism - all of the lived themes were there in her work of the early 70s, when she was only in her 20s and early 30s.

Where is your favorite farmers market?
At the @phoeniciafarmersmarket in the heart of the Catskills, neighbors greet each other, visitors pick up fresh food to bring back to the city, local musicians play for our enjoyment, and the food is amazing.
Farmers markets offer so many benefits for us and for the planet. The food is fresh and locally grown or made, so less fuel is used in transport.
Packaging is minimal, and you are encouraged to bring your own reusable bags for veggies and fruit, so less single use plastic. Chemicals are not used in the growing of the food, so the practices of big agribusinesses that harm habitats, reduce biodiversity, and have a huge carbon footprint are not present.
In the winter, the market goes indoors but continues to offer fresh and locally grown vegetables, hot soups, amazing bread, unique, pastries, local dairy options, local honey, and other goodies.

Recycling, while limited, is indeed happening.

Our plastics problems need to be addressed at the source.
While lobbying and voting for those changes, here are a few tips to make recycling go more smoothly:
Pics 1&2: Unsorted plastic, glass, and metal. Tips: no clamshells, no black plastic, no sticky/sloshing food (this is the one thing that will result in a whole batch being thrown out) and nothing smaller than a tennis ball. You can bundle bits of paper or foil to increase size. Put plastic lids on plastic items.
Pic 3: Sorted recycling, partly by machine and partly by hand: metal, clear plastic, colored plastics, glass, and paper & cardboard.
Tip: Return glass bottles to bottle deposits when possible.
