CLIMATE CHANGE IS ALREADY HERE.

The question is no longer if climate change will affect us, It is how prepared we are to respond, adapt, and build a more resilient future.

Rising temperatures, extreme weather events, flooding, changing rainfall patterns, pressure on food systems, and threats to livelihoods are reshaping communities, economies, and ecosystems.

But responding to climate change requires more than awareness and conversations.

We need to understand what we can do now to reduce future risks and what we must do to cope with the impacts already happening.

That is why City Scope Africa Academy presents its September 2026 Monthly Academy Workshop:

Join us for an engaging and insightful conversation featuring:

Moderator: Michael Adefioye
Guest Speaker: Teenat Ghina khan
🗓️ Saturday, 26th September 2026
Time: 10:00 AM (WAT)
Venue: Google Meet

Expect practical insights, real-world perspectives, meaningful discussions, and actionable ideas that go beyond simply talking about climate change.

Whether you're a student, professional, entrepreneur, sustainability enthusiast, environmental advocate, policymaker, or simply someone who cares about the future of our communities, this conversation is for you.

The climate is changing. Our response must change too.

ECOINAR 04: Nature-Positive Agrifood Systems: Building Climate Resilience Through Science, Innovation and Community Action

Our Ecoinar session with Dr. Olusegun Emmanuel Dada explored the transition towards more resilient, sustainable and nature-positive agrifood systems.
The discussion highlighted the need to move beyond simply adapting agriculture to climate change and towards approaches that also restore the ecosystems on which food production depends. From improving soil health and protecting biodiversity to responsible water management and land restoration, nature-positive agriculture presents an important pathway towards long-term food security and climate resilience.

Key insights from the session included:
• Strengthening the connection between scientific research and the practical realities faced by farmers.
• Recognising land restoration as an essential strategy for improving productivity and strengthening food security.
• Promoting accessible, affordable and inclusive innovation, including digital agriculture and emerging technologies.
• Shifting from developing solutions for communities to developing solutions with communities by valuing local knowledge, participation and ownership.
• Reimagining agricultural extension as a system that connects farmers with climate information, science, technology, markets, finance and research.
• Placing women and young people at the centre of agricultural transformation and decision-making.
The session reinforced an important message: meaningful climate resilience cannot be achieved through technology or policy alone. It requires the integration of science, innovation, local and indigenous knowledge, community participation and strong environmental stewardship.
We sincerely thank Dr. Olusegun Emmanuel Dada for sharing his expertise and valuable perspectives with the Ecoinar community.

As we continue these conversations, Ecoinar remains committed to exploring practical ideas and collaborative pathways towards agrifood systems that can strengthen food security, restore nature and build resilience for the future.

ECOINAR Day 3: Carbon Markets & Carbon Finance

Day 3 of ECOINAR took us into the world of carbon credits, carbon markets, and carbon finance. 🌱

The session began with @iamnimra_k presenting basics in a beautiful way followed by valuable insights from sustainability consultant @wasihaidar on how carbon markets operate in practice.

From understanding compliance and voluntary carbon markets to exploring additionality, credit integrity, carbon removal, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, and Pakistan’s opportunities in carbon finance, the session unpacked how these mechanisms can support meaningful climate action. 📊🌍

One key takeaway: carbon markets are not a license to keep polluting. Real emission reductions must always come first, with credible carbon credits playing a complementary role. Strong standards, independent verification, transparency, and responsible climate action are essential for carbon markets to deliver real environmental benefits.

Thank you to our speakers and everyone who participated, asked questions, and contributed to making Day 3 another insightful session! 🤝✨

I had the privilege of serving as a Facilitator at the @deutschegeschichte_ @giz_nigeria_ecowas "Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Development for Decent Employment in Nigeria" MSME's workshop in Ogun State, ably representing @enpact_hse @areselucia

The session brought together MSME owners engaging them on how sustainability can move beyond policies and become part of everyday business decisions.

Together, we explored practical circular business strategies that businesses can adopt...

One key message I emphasised during my session is that circular economy is all about rethinking how we design, produce, consume, use resources and create value from what we term "waste".

I challenged participants with a simple question...as a brainteaser

“How can a barber integrate circular economy model into his business?” 😂

...this had them thinking for some seconds and discussing...

That actually opened up an engaging conversation about how every business can become more circular...from a fashion designer upcycling fabric offcuts, to a farmer converting agricultural residues into useful products, or a construction business recovering and reusing materials... Circular Economy Business Model Cost little but requires strategy and clear partnership...

The highlight was the practical breakout session, where industry experts worked in groups to identify business waste challenges in different sectors and develop circular solutions.

The real mindset shift is moving from...

“How do I dispose off my waste?”

to...

“How can I generate less waste and create value from what I currently throw away as waste?”

Meaningful sustainability engagement must be practical, applicable and action-oriented.

The future of sustainable business is circular. ♻️

A big thank you to @areselucia for trusting my ability and referring me to facilitate the session 🙏
