When corporate life feels suffocating, breathe here 🍃
15 years in banking taught me work isn't all of life
Finding my way back to art in my late 30s🎨

POSTS STORIES REELS

I''ve been quiet here for a while. I stepped away from social media and spent my time with colors, books and a lot of calm 🎨📚

It felt good 🥰 and gave me some time to think on what I want to do now.

When I started this page, I was trying to find myself. I even paused posting on my booksta account, which was doing well, to focus on becoming a life coach.

Over the years, I explored so many healing modalities, and somewhere along the way, I began to feel lighter and freer. I don't relate to many of the problems I used to talk about here anymore. I barely think about them now.

And with that came something unexpected. I remembered an old dream: I wanted to learn art.

I have joined dance classes, the gym, an expressive arts therapy course, and even an offline painting class near my home 🎨

I am enjoying this calmness in my life .

I've also realised that while healing tools are wonderful, making every day about fixing yourself can take away the joy of simply living. Sometimes, small things like gratitude work quietly in our lives.

This page holds so many versions of me.

The life coach, the healer, the confused woman figuring things out, and now, someone learning to be an artist. 🖌️

We'll still talk about corporate life and being a working woman, just from a new perspective. I'll document the process: the art I create, the things I learn, the books and little joys I discover.

And one day, I want my daughter to look back at this page and know that it's normal to learn something new and chase your dreams at any age 🤍

If you're also learning something new, or want to, follow along.

Let's grow together. 🤎

Here's to being a beginner again.

His last words to me changed everything I thought I knew about success 💔

My school friend was the healthiest person I knew. 💪

Never smoked, never drank, loved working out and traveling. He worked at an international bank just like me. 🏦

Then cancer came for him - not once, but four times. 💔

Two days before he left this world in July, we were talking on the phone. 📞 His words still echo in my mind:

"I don't know if I should thank my company for paying my medical bills or be angry because this toxic job with all the late nights got me sick." 😔

That sentence broke something in me. 💔

Here was my friend - brilliant, healthy, dedicated - questioning whether the very job that supported his treatment might have caused his illness. 🤔

😰 The late nights that became normal.
😵‍💫 The stress that we called "dedication."
🏅 The overtime that we wore like badges of honor.

We worked in the same industry. I know those 12-hour days. I know the pressure. I know how we normalized the abnormal. 🏢

Then he said something that triggered my inferiority complex: 😳

"You're a mother too. How do you handle things at work? You should take care of your health. I at least don't have to do household chores as my wife does the same." 👩‍👧‍👦

💡 That's when it hit me - women in corporate aren't just battling toxic work culture. We're battling it while carrying the mental load of home too. 💔

🤯 His words made me realize: What good is a job that pays for your treatment if it's the same job that made you sick?

✨ That conversation changed everything for me. It's one of the biggest reasons why I decided to help women in corporate - because healing can save them before it's too late.

🚫 Your health is not negotiable. Your rest is not optional. Your life is happening now, not "someday."

🕊️ Rest in peace, my friend. Thank you for the lesson that might have saved my life.

Take care of your health and emotions.

While leaving hurriedly I realize my morning meditation, yoga, and prep time are long gone.

We missed her school bus too!!

I take her with me in auto.

Dropping my daughter off at school, I see the slight guilt in her eyes.

"Sorry, Amma," she says softly.

I smile and hug her.

"It's okay, sweetie. Sometimes life doesn't go as planned."

On the way to the bank, I take a deep breath.

My perfect routine may have failed, but I got extra snuggles with my daughter.

Maybe that's a different kind of perfect.

Can you relate ? by @economicsofemotions

Every creator tip says the same thing: keep your phone ready, record 5-second clips all day. You never know what you'll need📱

I tried it. And honestly, I don't think it's healthy.

Slowly, I stopped living my moments and started filming them. My tea wasn't tea anymore; it was B-roll. A walk with my daughter became a shot list. Even sunsets turned into "content."

And I'm someone who's usually careful with my phone. When I travel, I barely use it, and some days I don't take a single photo 🌿

Still, I fell into it.

Here's the part that we are missing.... we're somehow expected to document more of our lives while simultaneously learning to spend less time on our phones. Isn't that a little contradictory?

So I stopped.

Now I set aside one day for shooting. I plan it, shoot everything together and put my phone away 🎥

The rest of my week is just for living. Not for capturing, not for posting, not for performing.

If a moment only feels worth it because it might make a good reel, maybe it's time to put the phone down.

Your life isn't B-roll

After years of trying to grow flowers, they finally bloomed when I stopped worrying so much🌸

My Muthashan, as I fondly called my grandfather, was a farmer. In our family, we used to say that whatever he planted would bear fruit. He was that good with plants.

I was very close to him. I remember spending time on his farm, watching his workers laugh at his silly yet philosophical jokes. He was a wonderful boss and someone who found so much joy in growing things.

After he passed away when I was still in school, I somehow stopped gardening too.

Years later, when we moved into our home, I tried again. I tried different plants, followed gardening apps and experimented with natural remedies. Some vegetables grew, but flowers rarely did.

And I kept checking.

Were there buds? Were they growing? Was something wrong?

Recently, my sister-in-law gave me a few plants. I planted them without much planning or expectation, watered them and went about my days.

Last week, I noticed all of them had started blooming.

It got me thinking about how we approach so many things in life.

✔️We start something and immediately want proof that it's working.
✔️We keep checking, comparing and worrying when things don't happen on our timeline.

And sometimes, all that anxiety takes away the joy of simply doing the thing.

Maybe manifestation isn't only about visualising, wishing and waiting. Maybe it's also about showing up, doing what we can and giving things the time and space they need to grow.

Not everything needs to bloom the moment we plant it.

Some things need a little patience. And some things need us to stop digging them up every other day to see if they're growing.

I'm still learning that.

A little question for you:

What's that one thing in your life you're trying so hard to make happen right now?

Maybe today, instead of checking for results, give yourself permission to simply nurture it 🌱

Save this for the days when you're tempted to rush your own growth.

And if you prefer helping maybe share it with someone you know who needs a gentle reminder that not everything happens overnight😉

So tonight, we're putting the unfinished tasks aside, watching a movie and just chilling together ❤️

I'm posting this at this hour because I know there's someone out there still trying to finish her chores, telling herself she'll rest once everything is done.

Maybe tonight, you can let a few things wait. You deserve to rest, too.

Sometimes, life feels exhausting not because of one big problem, but because of a hundred little things demanding your attention.

Work, home, family, things you need to remember, tasks you haven't finished… and somewhere in between, you.

Here are 6 tiny things that make my everyday life feel a little lighter.

1. I listen to music before my workday ends 🎶

When my work is almost done, I put on some peppy music. Sometimes it's Waka Waka, sometimes an old favourite. Instead of carrying the same work mood into my evening, I give myself something fun to look forward to.

2. I stop trying to remember everything in my head 📝

Appointments, things to buy, little things for home, there's always something running in the background of my mind. Writing it down gives me one less thing to worry about.

3. I protect my 11 AM tea break ☕

No matter how my day goes, around 11 AM I make myself a cup of tea and enjoy it for ten minutes without rushing. For those ten minutes, I don't have to hurry to the next thing.

4. I use a tiny notebook instead of my phone for planning 📒

Picking up my phone often meant getting distracted by a dozen other things. Now I write my plans in a small notebook and tick them off with a pen. There's something so satisfying about it.

5. I don't talk to anyone while having lunch 🍽️

Lunch is my little time to myself. I just want to eat my meal peacefully. Sometimes, a break doesn't need to be productive. It just needs to be yours.

6. I doodle on the back of waste paper at my desk 🎨

I'm learning art, and these little doodles are how I enjoy it even on a busy workday. Not everything I do for myself needs a perfect setup. Sometimes, a pen and a scrap of paper are enough.

🌻These aren't life-changing hacks. They're just little things that make ordinary days feel a bit lighter.

You don't always need to change your whole life.

Sometimes, you just need to make a little more room for yourself within it 🤍

Which of these six habits do you relate to the most? Tell me in the comments, and save this post for a day when life feels like too much ❤️ by @economicsofemotions

I took a loan to chase a dream & I wish someone had told me to pause first 💭

A few years ago, someone I looked up to, a coach, made it sound simple.

✔️Invest in yourself.
✔️Take the leap.
✔️The money will come back.

And I believed it, because I wanted that dream so badly ✨

When I joined those courses, I was excited. It felt like I was finally doing something for myself.

But slowly, that excitement turned into stress.

I'd sit in class thinking about EMIs and how many months I had left to pay. I couldn't even finish some of the courses. The very thing I'd borrowed money for became something I struggled to enjoy.

Nobody tells you how quietly money stress follows you, when you are a beginner and unprepared.

It's there when you wake up, when you open your bank app, and when your child asks for something small and you pause before saying yes 💔

I was fortunate in ways I don't take for granted 🙏

I still had my job,my parents had their pension and insurance,my sister was there for them, and my husband was there for me.

I've paid most of the loan back now. And that's one reason I'm still in my 9-to-5. I want to take responsibility for the decision I made.

But I know not everyone has the support I had.

Some people pledge the only gold they own. Some use their emergency savings. Some lose so much and stay silent because they're ashamed.

We hear plenty of stories about people who made it big. We don't often hear these ones 🤐

I have seen some people struggle badly and confused on what went wrong with them .

So if you're struggling financially and someone tells you to borrow money to chase your dream, please pause 🌿

So should you give up on your dreams???

NOOOOO

Learn what you can for free. Start small. Save what you can. Test your idea before taking on debt 🌱

You deserve to pursue something you love. You also deserve peace of mind while you do it 🤍

If you're considering a loan for a dream right now, I hope this gives you a reason to pause and think it through.

This October, the plan is simple.

I just want to enjoy my life as it is right now.

☕️Work will happen anyway so I have decided to make it a place I actually want to show up to. I work to the clock, I give my best while I am there, and I leave,on time .No working overtime for any reason. That is not something to be ashamed of. That is how I protect everything else that matters to me.

📚I am reading rom-coms and honestly they are making me feel finding them happy right now. If you have any recommendations drop them below .I will be grateful 😅

🎨 I am focusing fully on my art therapy practitioner classes. They are just wonderful.I will share more soon.

🧴Skincare is something I have spent a little money towards this month and I am getting a lot of confidence from it. It feels like a very happy thing to do at the end of the day and at the beginning of the day.

🍲For food I am going to eat normal home cooked food until my soul says stop. My PT recommended a proper chart and I tried following it but my body was totally resisting it so I am not going to follow it 😅 I had let him know thay .I know my body well this time. I know what works. I feel full and I just listen to what it needs.

💤And sleep. Sleeping well is not just because every person tells you to. Sleeping well is the best thing to calm your nervous system. If your nervous system is not working properly you will have a lot of stress. 6 to 8 hours a day is a game changer. And not using your mobile phone before you sleep is another game changer for that deep sleep.

✅️What is one little thing you want to do more of this October, just because it makes you happy?

Tell me in the comments. I’d love to know ❤️ by @economicsofemotions

Eight years.

That is how long it took me to reach this point.

And now, this year, I go to the gym after work.

Its sounds simple. Right???? But its not 🤷‍♀️

I am a working mother in a bank. My day starts early and rarely ends at six. When I leave the office and go for my training, it takes two hours or more. I am a beginner. My coach takes his time with me. The experience is genuinely amazing.

But in the back of my mind, there is always my daughter.

Do you know what makes it possible for me to be there, fully present, working on my health without guilt pulling me back home?

My husband who took a sabbatical this year to take care of our family and then myy parents who are always there to hold the home while I hold my career and my health at the same time 🌿

Now it sounds easy?? Right?

Hear this is the truth nobody tells you about a moment like this.

This did not happen because I got LUCKY ❌️

I had a difficult relationship with my parents and my partner at a point .But I worked on so.ething I had full control ....MYSELF 💖

✔️So it happened because I spent years healing myself.
✔️ Learning how to handle my emotions instead of burying them.
✔️Learning how to stay in difficult conversations without shutting down.
✔️Learning that patience is not weakness. It is a skill, and I had to build it deliberately.

The coaching, the healing work, the slow unglamorous process of understanding my own patterns. That is what changed everything around me. Because when you change how you show up, the people in your life eventually shift too. 🌱

Running away is not always the answer.

Sometimes the answer is staying and healing the version of yourself who never learned how to ask for what she need 🌿

If this resonated with you, save it for the day you need the reminder that you are not asking for too much.

You are just still learning how to ask.

1. Checking my calendar before saying yes to anything , instead of automatically saying "sure, I'll manage" and figuring out the panic later.

2. Giving myself 10 quiet minutes in the morning before letting everyone else’s messages into my head.

3. Keeping one small notebook where I write down things I need to remember instead of carrying them around mentally all day.

4. Leaving a little earlier than I need to. I stopped making "running late" my permanent personality.

5. Not replying to a difficult message the moment it arrives. I let myself feel what I am feeling first. The reply can wait.

6. Having a few outfits I know I feel good in, so getting ready does not become another decision I have to make when I am already tired.

7. Taking a walk without turning it into another productivity task. Sometimes I just walk.

8. Saying, “Let me think about it,” when I am not sure instead of giving an answer because I am afraid of disappointing someone.

9. Keeping some plans private until they actually happen. Not everything needs an audience.

10. Before a difficult conversation, asking myself, “What do I actually want from this conversation?” instead of preparing only to defend myself.

11. Buying fewer things that I genuinely love instead of constantly buying small things that temporarily make me feel better.

12. At the end of a difficult day, asking, “What went well today?” instead of replaying the one thing that went wrong.

13. Reaching for a book when I feel the urge to scroll. Even just a few pages. It always feels different afterwards.

14. Not treating someone else’s bad mood as an emergency I have to fix.

15. Making decisions based on what I actually want, not only on what will make everyone around me happy.

I do not think women who seem calm have somehow escaped difficult days.

I think they have simply stopped treating every difficult moment like it needs an immediate response.

That is the habit worth borrowing.

Save this and pick one or two you want to try this week.

Which ones are you choosing? Tell me in the comments.

💫Follow for more practical ways to feel better, think clearer and create more choices in your life. by @economicsofemotions

❌️A boss who dismisses you.
❌️A system that ignores your boundaries.
❌️A culture that expects you to perform fine no matter what is happening inside you.

🏡And then you go home and realise you are doing the exact same thing there.

Staying quiet, not asking for what you need and then calling it love.

But should we really be giving our jobs this kind of control over us?

Noooo

There are ways to break this and am not going to pretend it happens overnight because it did not for me. It took me years to get to the place of calm and peace I am in right now. Some of my clients got there faster. But every single one of them had one thing in common :

"they started"

It is always better to start and fail than to wait for the perfect time that never comes. Whether it is setting one boundary, having one honest conversation, or just deciding that you deserve something different start there.

Life is so much more beautiful on the other side of this.

Trust me on this I am living it. I really want that for you too 🌿

Save this if it made you pause. And if you are ready to begin, follow @economicsofemotions because am building this small corner for people like you 💆‍♀️and we are gonna learn a lot new things 🤗
