Yesterday, I had the distinct honor of congratulating ECU’s Marching Pirates on their selection to perform in the 2027 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!    Throughout my time as chancellor, I have witnessed countless moments that make me proud to lead this university, but this announcement stands among the most memorable.   This historic achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication and talent of our student musicians and the faculty and staff who support them. It is not only a tremendous accomplishment for the @marchingpirates, but also a moment of pride for our entire university.   I cannot wait to see our band represent @eastcarolinauniv and the state of North Carolina at one of the nation’s premier annual events. Congratulations, Marching Pirates! You have made us so proud. 👏 taken in East Carolina University by @ecuartscomm

From Greenville to New York City, the Pirates are on the march. 🥁   In 2027, the #ECU Marching Pirates will debut on West 35th Street for the first time at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.   And they earned their spot in a big way. Selected from about 100 high school and collegiate bands, the Marching Pirates will be the only band to represent North Carolina in 2027, according to a @macys representative. For the students behind the instruments, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent ECU and the state of North Carolina in one of the country’s premier annual events.   “We’re going to put them on the biggest marching band stage in the world,” Marching Pirates director Dr. Joe Busuito said.   🔗 Read more about the Marching Pirates’ journey to NYC and show your support at the link in our bio.
