Eczema is more than skin deep. 💙

Living with eczema can affect so much more than the skin. The relentless itch, disrupted sleep, discomfort and challenges of managing a chronic condition can take a real toll on mental wellbeing.

Research involving more than 4.7 million people found that people with atopic dermatitis had 44% higher odds of experiencing suicidal thoughts compared with those without the condition.

With World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September and World Atopic Eczema Day on 14 September, we’re shining a light on an important part of the eczema conversation this month: mental health matters too.

For those living with eczema, support shouldn’t stop at the skin. Check in with yourself. Check in with someone you love. And please know that support is available.

Bleach baths? Yes, bleach.

We know the name can sound a little scary at first, but when prepared correctly, bleach baths are very diluted and can be a helpful part of eczema care for some people.

Bleach baths may help reduce bacteria on the skin, which can support eczema management and help reduce skin infections. The key is using the correct amount, following the right steps, and only using them when recommended by your doctor, nurse practitioner or healthcare professional.

November is Movember, a time to talk a little more openly about men's mental health.

When we talk about eczema, we often focus on the physical side of things. The itching, the flare-ups, the sleepless nights. But there's another side that doesn't always get talked about.

Living with eczema can affect confidence, relationships, work, sleep and how someone feels about themselves.

And for men, who may already find it difficult to talk about how they're feeling, those struggles can sometimes go unnoticed.

This month, we're encouraging the men in our eczema community to look after their mental wellbeing just as much as their skin.

Whether it's talking to a mate, opening up to someone you trust or asking for a little extra support, those conversations matter.

And if there's a man in your life living with eczema, check in on him. Sometimes a simple "How are you really going?" can open the door to a conversation he needed.

Your skin matters. Your mental health does too.

Our skin is only one part of who we are.

Today is World Psoriasis Day, and this year's theme, "Look Beyond My Skin", is a reminder that there's so much more to a person than what we see on the outside.

Psoriasis and eczema are often confused, but they're not the same condition.

Psoriasis is an immune-mediated inflammatory condition that speeds up skin cell production, often causing thick, scaly patches. Eczema, particularly atopic dermatitis, is closely linked to skin barrier dysfunction and inflammation, often causing dry, intensely itchy skin.

While they have different underlying causes and treatments, both can affect sleep, confidence, relationships and emotional wellbeing. And importantly, neither is contagious.

For children and teenagers especially, living with a visible skin condition can bring challenges that others may never see.

This World Psoriasis Day, we're standing alongside everyone living with psoriasis and reminding our community that understanding, kindness and support can make a real difference.

Because we are all so much more than our skin.
