Introducing the SWIVR App. Made to increase the salaries of barbers, nail stylists, and cosmetologists everywhere. Below is our story:On a hot June summer day in Chicago, our CEO Edgar was in desperate need of a haircut. His barber, out of work due to COVID-19, offered to come to his home to give him a cut. Something that had been reserved for celebrities (home-visits) was now a new normal due to the pandemic.Edgar knew his barber was making more money, having left the shop and the burden of booth rent and wanted to find ways to help support people like him.So Ed reached out to his network and identified 6 black college graduates to solve a billion dollar question.“How can we empower cosmetologists to make the most out of their business during COVID-19.”We each knew several barbers and stylists who had been paying hundreds a month in booth rent at different shops. Many were devastated by COVID-19 having lost their place of work, or clientele because people no longer felt safe going out to have services done. However, COVID-19 also provided an opportunity to elevate and give back to the community.The solution? Mobility and OwnershipComing out in 2021.
