We have to change the story of MND.
Today is about shining a light on all the people and families affected by Motor Neurone Disease. It is currently untreatable, and considered a terminal illness, the stats will tell you that over half of people die within 2 years of diagnosis. This disease strips you of absolutely everything, and rewrites your story for you in the worst imaginable way.
We have to find a way to treat it, and improve the lives of everyone stories it’s ruined. by @ed_slater

A very special day for me and my family at Kingsholm. I was blown away by the reception from everyone, so I want to say a huge thank you to everyone for your support. @officialgloucesterrugby is a wonderful rugby club and they really pulled out all the stops to make this a day that my kids can remember forever.

To the rugby community, you really are a special group of people, and with your support I will continue to fight this disease with all the strength I can muster as well as keep pushing awareness for MND.

Thank you again and well done to @leicestertigers on your victory.

I want to say Thank You to everyone for all your messages of support and generosity. It gives me and my family a huge amount of strength in a time of sadness for us. I will meet this challenge head on. Ultimately I can’t win but I will fight with everything. Hope is not lost.

I also want to add a thank you to @jillydouglas and @mndoddie5 who have been a huge support. I’d also like to thank @mndassoc. Both are working to fight this disease for me and all my fellow battlers of MND as well as our loved ones.

For now, I’m going to enjoy every moment with this crew. Thanks again. by @ed_slater

This week I was invited to attend the Women of the Year Awards 2026, to receive an award for the @the4edfoundation as a Campaigning Champion for MND, alongside the incredible Lindsey Burrow, Kathy Weir and Annie Moody. It was such an incredible honour to be able to receive an award in a room full of magical women, championing their own and others hard work and passions.

Lindsey made the most incredible speech, after we were awarded by MNDA ambassador Charlotte Hawkins @charlottehawkins1 who sadly lost her father to MND and knows first hand how cruel the disease can be.

To be honest, it was very overwhelming and completely out of my comfort zone being at such a prestigious event, as my day to day now is caring for Ed, making sure the kids get their snacks (essential) and ensuring my family feels safe and well loved.

It takes a huge amount of organisation to leave Ed to make sure he is cared for with experienced help in the things I’ve had to learn on the job as a carer- whether it’s peg feeding, medication, his NIV machine or hoisting.

When you’re so used to leading his care requirements, it’s anxiety inducing leaving him- as living with MND, the smallest of things that can happen in an instant can have the biggest repercussions and I want to make sure I’m there for anything- a choking episode, a fall, a communication issue.

Caring is a huge change from life pre Ed’s diagnosis, but I consider it such a privilege that I am able to care for Ed and ensure his needs are met and can protect my kids and make sure their experience of living life with MND is as comfortable and positive as possible.

I use the word privilege because living with MND can have so many factors that make it extremely difficult and volatile to be able to advocate for your loved one- with differing levels of support services based on location, financial hardship, limited support networks, and social isolation as well as many more.

What I do day to day is out of love and adoration for Ed, his strength and what he believes in - a better quality of life and support for those living with MND. That is why we created the 4Ed Foundation.

I share this award with those amazing women that h by @ed_slater

I just want to express my thanks to everyone who came to support @the_745game yesterday.

It was another great day hosted by @leicestertigers and I really enjoyed seeing so many faces from my playing days there.

The players continue to support the cause with the spirit we all love to see and I'm already planning next year, I think the Union team needs a big recruitment drive to put a stop to the League dominance πŸ˜†

Thanks to @tntsportsrugby and the excellent @andnickmullins for your support. It really means so much.

Take care everyone,

Very aware I am no longer posting, so I just wanted to provide an update for anyone who is curious.

There is still so much work being done with @the4edfoundation and I'm extremely proud of the people behind it and of course the incredible fundraisers.

4Ed carries my name but it's so much more than me, and I hope it continues to be something that people can get behind so we can continue the work we have done so far.

Thanks for taking the time to read πŸ˜ŠπŸ™.
