Most studios don’t have a “bad brand”

they just don’t have a distinct one.

POV: Hannah Montana let me design her 20th anniversary merch ✨👀🎤

With the 20th anniversary special coming up… I had to do this. She was my entire childhood 😭

I’ve been lowkey obsessed with this idea, like what would Hannah Montana actually look like now if she grew up with us?

So I started designing it the way I’d want to see it… and then got a bit carried away bringing it to life 😅

Seeing it go from just an idea to actual products to something that almost feels real was honestly the best part.

Lowkey wish this was real.

@Miley Cyrus @Disney+ @Disney Channel what do we think 👀

When you work in a creative job, you spend a lot of time creating with an outcome already in mind.

A campaign. A brand. A client. A deadline.

I made this collage with none of those things.

I just started placing things on the page, followed whatever felt interesting, changed things I didn’t like and kept going until it felt finished.

It reminded me that not knowing what you’re making yet can actually be part of the fun.

A little throwback to one of the more magical illustration projects I’ve worked on ✨

This was for Lumbardhi’s education program in Prizren. The idea was to reimagine the city through the stories and cartoons we grew up with so familiar landmarks started turning into things like giant mushroom houses from Smurfs, the candy house from Hansel & Gratel, dinosaurs, ant robots, alice in wonderland, sword in stone, rapunsel and other little references hidden throughout the city.

My part was illustrating the world and helping bring those ideas to life, including the cityscape and the animated drawing elements used in the campaign.

I still love how familiar Prizren feels underneath all the fantasy. Which detail would you have spotted first?

I’ve realised I have a habit of turning every hobby into something productive.

Can I post it? Can I use it for work? Can I get better at it? Can I make something out of it?

So this is me trying to enjoy making something without needing it to become anything.

I’m always saving logos that have one small idea that makes them feel special. These three all caught my attention for different reasons, the shape of the letters, the cat hidden in the M, and the simple red dot that becomes part of the whole identity. I think that’s what I like most about good logo design. It doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes one simple idea is enough to make a brand memorable. Which one do you like most?

Copying a premium brand doesn’t make your brand premium.

Aesop works because the aesthetic is the result of a much deeper strategy, function, restraint, consistency, material choices and a very specific point of view.

That’s the difference between creating something that simply looks good and building a brand people actually recognise.

If your brand is borrowing the look of everyone else in your category, the problem probably isn’t the colour palette.

It’s the lack of a distinctive brand idea.

Would you still consider Aesop-inspired branding premium, or has the aesthetic become overdone?

This is still one of those projects I think about because it reminded me that the smallest design decisions can sometimes do the most work.

What I enjoyed most wasn’t just making the publication feel polished it was finding a way for the design to quietly guide people without making the system feel complicated.

I think that’s what I love most about editorial and information design in general. When it’s working well, you almost don’t notice it. You just know where to go.

Projects like this are also a good reminder that design doesn’t always need to be louder to be smarter.

There are a lot of things I could do as a brand designer.

But if it doesn’t make sense for your business, your audience or where your brand is trying to go, I’m probably not doing it.

Good branding isn’t about chasing trends, making something pretty or handing over a logo and calling it a day.

It’s about building a brand identity with a reason behind every decision, from your positioning and brand strategy to the way the visual system actually works across your business.

So if your business has grown but your branding hasn’t grown with it, or you’re building something new and want to get the foundation right from the beginning, that’s the kind of project I love working on.

Building a brand or thinking about a rebrand? Tell me a little about what you’re working on.

“Clean” doesn’t automatically mean good.

Sometimes when brands strip everything back in the name of looking premium, they also strip away the things that make them recognisable.

The goal isn’t to add decoration for the sake of it. It’s to build a visual language with enough personality, distinction and consistency that people can actually remember who you are.

Especially now, when so many brands are pulling from the same minimal references, being clear and being distinctive have to work together.

If your brand looks polished but could belong to almost anyone in your category, that’s usually a sign the identity needs a stronger point of view.

Curious where you sit on this: clean design or more personality?

A strong personal brand should tell people something about you before you even explain who you are.

Not just what you look like, but what you’re known for, what people can expect from you, and what makes your work feel like yours.

That’s the part I find most interesting about personal branding. The visuals matter, but they should be supporting a much clearer idea underneath.

Because when that idea is strong, your brand can grow and evolve without losing its identity.
