The photography of Eddie Otchere - @eddie_otchere - which brilliantly captures the jungle days, features in the new edition of the No Way Back publication. Here’s what Eddie says about the photo of Black Market Records and following are more of Eddie’s photos rewinding to jungle’s halcyon days..//BLACK MARKET RECORDS, RAY KEITH AND CLARKY“Me out doing the rounds again. Going in there, seeing what’s selling, seeing what’s moving. Finding out what new sounds there are and what those guys had to say. These guys didn’t always feel totally comfortable being photographed, but they knew it was important that this culture was documented visually. We’d learnt how important it is to control how you’re presented to others – the opposite of when Sun photographers were getting let into raves and basically just slating working class culture through what they published. We were protecting people, protecting the scene.”//RIP Clarky who sadly passed away in October 2025. No Way Back is a magazine put together by a few folk who very much know what matters. Learning from, not longing for, the past which is very much our ethos at Test Pressing. You can pick up editions 1 & 2 at the TP store. Link in biog to the store. Follow @nowayback.co to stay in the loop on what they’re up to. ✌️ by @eddie_otchere

Comment the word EPISODE for a DM with a link to listen. This week’s guest on Once a DJ is Eddie Otchere (@eddie_otchere )— and even if his name’s new to you, his pictures absolutely aren’t.Eddie has spent the last 30 years documenting London’s hip hop, jungle, drum & bass, garage and grime scenes. He was Metalheadz’s official photographer. He shot Wu-Tang as teenagers, Aaliyah while he was still at college, Biggie, Jay-Z, So Solid, Estelle, Chronixx. His work is in the V&A East right now.We got deep on this one. Growing up in Brixton when the record shops of Soho were the only education that mattered. Picking up a Praktika camera left behind by a friend’s granddad. Shooting jungle raves so the tabloids couldn’t paint dancers as wrong’uns. Why drum & bass was run by women. Lee Scratch Perry. Meta glasses. AI as a personal archivist. Why Theo Parrish playing his record at the wrong speed turned out to be a win. It’s a long one. It’s wide-ranging. I came away from it feeling like I’d learned something — and that’s not always the case.🎧 Comment EPISODE for the link. by @eddie_otchere
