I’ve had this idea in my head for a WHILE - back in the spring I commissioned a very talented friend to crochet these gorgeous Woolen sunflowers with this exact hat in mind. I’m SO happy with how it turned out - Elfen meets whimsy meets woodland. 🧡🌻🧡

If you give a mouse a cookie…

Would you believe me if I said this started out as a one colour plum bonnet beanie? Then I thought, some kind of pattern could be fun… which turned into… snowflakes are good for winter. Then I started thinking, snowflakes, elf hats, trees, candy canes … CANDY CANES! So then I thought… a striped brim! But not horizontal stripes - vertical stripes!! Let me tell you, that was a bit tricky to figure out, but I do love it, and in the middle of that process I found out it’s called a corrugated brim, which is perfect, right? So then… plum just didn’t seem like the right colour anymore, so I switched to this dark Plomo and natural. I think the middle patterning needs some tweaks and this definitely turned out to be a s/m size, but … I think we’re onto something here, don’t you?

I decided to switch gears and try a totally different colour combo, and a new animal! 🦔

Pattern is #woodlandstockingstinycreatures from @fieldwonderful , and I’m using @malabrigoyarn Rios in Glitter and Pearl.

🚨‼️‼️Shipping to the US is paused until the dust from the retaliatory 50% tariffs against Canadian goods settles. ‼️‼️🚨

Sugar Plum Elfen bonnets are done and will be shipping today - Pale lions all shipped Monday. For the next few days I’ll be concentrating on getting all outstanding orders shipped before the August 19th deadline. Before then I will not be able to offer anything new unless a miracle happens and I get everything done with time to spare lol. Update on the stocking saga, as I am now calling it. Although please note I am IN LOVE with this pattern and will persevere, lol

Stocking 1: the bear motif (shown in back) knit in Ravelry Red and Natural Rios, using 4mm needles - it IS lovely but the fabric is just a bit loose. Like it needs to be slightly firmer because it will be impossible to fill (being so stretchy) AND having it so stretched out is unattractive, in my opinion

Stocking 2: the fox motif (not shown), also knit in Ravelry Red and Natural Rios, using 3.5mm needles - the tension of the resulting fabric is perfect and the fox is super cute! But… disaster struck when I washed the stocking (it was a cold water wool wash!) and the red bled into the natural. Have washed 15 times again with colour catchers but it is still - pink and red. Sigh. Steam blocking these from now on. Perhaps with vinegar.

Stocking 3: the owl motif (shown in front as a WiP), knit in Paris Night and Natural Rios, using 3.5mm needles. It is now finished and it is LOVELY. So… I will have to frog (that is unraveling for my non-knitting friends) the bear. And possibly the fox. Thankfully, it’s only August.

Now that I have hopefully learned what I need to know, I can try aaaaaall the animals from @fieldwonderful taken in North Perth, Ontario by @eddieandsofia

This one has been on my sewing bucket list for a while - the Spellbound Witch Hat from @polkadotchair ! I love love the fit and the flattering brim. This one is available today over in @heirloomcottage (Facebook group).
