The same kidlets and spoodle over and over again... and some bits and bobs in between (mainly lumberjacks, Italy spam and volcanos)

More of this please Spring. by @eddiepop

Yesterday we celebrated the life of our wonderful Dad. A devoted husband, Dad and Nonno, a gifted (yet extraordinarily humble) surgeon, a lifelong Carlton tragic and a man who found so much joy in the simple things.

Hot chips, thriving tomato plants, to be surrounded by a pile of grandkids and a healthy Blues list. The ingredients of a very happy life.

We were so lucky he was ours.

As a family, the love and support we’ve been shown has been incredible. Thank you for every message, hug, shared memory and act of kindness, and to everyone who helped us give Dad such a beautiful farewell. It has meant more than we can say.

Rest easy now Dad. We’ve got this.

Dominic Vellar, 29/11/1943 – 11/10/2026

Died peacefully at St.Vincent’s Private Hospital, Fitzroy.

Dearly loved husband of Maureen, and adored Dad of Damian, Justine, Stephanie and Edwina. A cherished father-in-law to Jessica, Adrian, Sean and Drew.
The much loved and proud Nonno of Zoe, Evan, Gemma, Angus, Hugo, Chiara, Imogen, Tom and Lola.

Dominic was compassion, decency, intellect and loyalty personified. A brilliant and humble surgeon, he made a profound difference to the lives of so many, always generous with his time, kindness and wisdom. A lifelong Carlton Football Club supporter – born and forever a passionate Blue Bagger. Above all else, his family was his heart, his greatest joy and his proudest achievement. He leaves a lifetime of love, laughter and treasured memories.

When life throws you strife, hit back with sequins… love my sisters (and our @lukedennehy).

Happy 100th celebration to @stephctully and @seanmtully. by @eddiepop

Happy Father’s Day to my beautiful Dad @dominicvellar and to silver-fox extraordinaire Drew. We love you very much… you are both everything that is good and decent in the world.

Thinking of those who find today difficult, for whatever reason. 💛 by @eddiepop

Thank you @carlton_fc, for the hope, the heart… and the occasional need for a quiet lie-down.

Through every high, low and “is this really happening?” moment, three generations of our family turn up week in, week out. Stronger together, just like the club.

The future’s bright and surely it’s time for @patrickcripps (and @dominic.vellar) to get their hands on that premiership cup.

Onwards to next year. 💙 by @eddiepop

This is 14. This is nightswimming, playlists for every occasion and Italian verb conjugations.

This is strumming on the guitar, baking the best cinnamon scrolls and focaccia and learning to be more resilient when life gets tricky.

This is “what social media ban?” and a whole lot of opinions. This is empathy and the kind of kindness that notices when someone needs it.

This is Harry (Styles, McKay and Dean) and binge-watching teen dramas in one sitting. This is all singing, all dancing, all the time.

Happy birthday @pearse.lola . Our moo, Moomin, moobatross, mooleta. We love you so much.

PS Go Baggers! 💙 by @eddiepop

Dolly was everything. She gave us unforgettable songs, gave children books, and helped bring hope and healing to so many. She was hilarious. She was a modern day saint.

There will never be another like her.

I remember my parents playing her music on long car rides, and then I did the same with my own kids. I am so grateful for the times I saw Dolly live with her wisecracks and that otherworldly voice. Today, I’m holding those memories close.
