🇲🇽 A day I will carry with me forever. 🇺🇸
Today, I walked into the Massachusetts State House as a recipient of the 2026 Latino Excellence on the Hill Award, nominated by State Representative Judith García.
I am still trying to find the words.
For someone who came to this country from Puebla, México, this moment means more than I can explain. To stand inside the State House and be recognized for serving the community I now call home is one of the greatest honors of my life.
I received recognition from the Massachusetts House of Representatives and an Official Citation from the Massachusetts Senate, offered by Senator Sal DiDomenico, for my commitment to making a difference in my community.
But I don’t see these recognitions as mine alone.
They belong to Chelsea. ❤️
They belong to every person who has joined us for a Wednesday run. Every volunteer who has stood on a street corner during the Chelsea Road Race. Every runner and walker who believed they belonged at a starting line. Everyone who believed running could bring a community together.
When I started running, I never imagined it would lead me here. I was simply trying to change my own life. Somewhere along the way, running became something bigger—a way to serve, create community, and help others feel that they belong.
Today reminded me of the responsibility that comes with this recognition: to keep serving. To keep opening doors. To keep bringing people together.
Thank you, Representative Judith García, for nominating me and believing in the work we are doing in Chelsea. Thank you, Senator Sal DiDomenico, for the Senate recognition.
Thank you to my family, friends, Chelsea Running Club, Chelsea Road Race family, Chelsea Recreation & Cultural Affairs, our volunteers, runners, partners, and everyone who has walked or run alongside me.
And to my Latino community: our stories matter. Our communities matter. Our dreams belong in rooms like these.
Proud of Puebla. 🇲🇽
Proud of Chelsea. ❤️
Proud to serve my community.
I leave the State House with a grateful heart and even more determination to continue the work.
This recognition has my name on it, but the story behind it belongs to all of us.
Gracias. ❤️ by @eddiepowers86

🚲 HONORING THE 2026 RIDE & VIBE CREW 🚲
As we continue reflecting on the historic 2026 United in Ability Chelsea Road Race, we want to recognize a team whose work played an essential role in making this year’s event safer, stronger, and more inclusive for our community.
This year, our traditional bike marshal team became the Ride & Vibe Crew — reflecting the energy, care, communication, and community spirit they brought to the course.
Led by Flor Amaya and Alexandra Shute, and joined by Omar Miranda, Alex Delvalle-Montoya, Sarah Neville, and other cyclists who generously supported the team on race day, the Ride & Vibe Crew played an essential role as Chelsea introduced its first-ever Wheelchair Division.
The crew helped monitor the course, communicate road conditions, and work alongside Chelsea Police, volunteers, and race leadership to help our wheelchair athletes navigate Chelsea safely and confidently.
That work mattered because history was being made.
Our inaugural Wheelchair Division welcomed remarkable athletes, including Mary MacDonald, our 2026 United in Ability Ambassador and Chelsea’s first women’s wheelchair champion. Mary brought joy, courage, determination, and an unforgettable spirit to our community — reminding us that inclusion means creating a place where every athlete is seen, supported, and celebrated.
Delmace Mayo became our inaugural men’s wheelchair champion, bringing extraordinary athleticism to Chelsea.
Hiram Cruz-Oliveras and Angel Robles, our wheelchair duo from Springfield, crossed the finish line in 20:17, earning third place and becoming part of Chelsea Road Race history.
These athletes came to race.
The Ride & Vibe Crew helped make sure our city was ready to receive them.
Flor, Alexandra, Omar, Alex, Sarah, and every cyclist who supported the team that morning — thank you for your time, energy, attention, and care.
You helped Chelsea take an important step toward a more inclusive sporting tradition and helped make our first Wheelchair Division not only possible, but meaningful.
The Ride & Vibe Crew is now part of Chelsea Road Race history.
We Ride. We Watch. We Communicate. We Support. We Vibe.

🏆 THREE YEARS. THREE LARGEST TEAM TITLES. ONE EXTRAORDINARY COMMUNITY. 🏆
For the third consecutive year, Team Stride for Stride is the Largest Team Champion of the Chelsea Road Race!
From our inaugural race in 2024 through the 2026 United in Ability Chelsea Road Race, Stride for Stride has earned this distinction every year. In 2026, an incredible 49 registered participants came together to carry their mission through the streets of Chelsea.
But this victory represents far more than a number.
Founded by Tom O’Keefe, Stride for Stride is a nonprofit running organization that purchases race entries for immigrant, BIPOC and low-income runners—helping make starting lines more accessible, inclusive and representative of the communities they serve. Through Mental Health in Stride, the organization also provides free mental health therapy to team members who need it.
We are deeply grateful to Tom for creating a movement that opens doors through running, and to Bridget O’Keefe, whose love, encouragement and support have been with the Chelsea Road Race since day one.
This relationship is also deeply personal to us. Chelsea Road Race Co-Director Eduardo Rodriguez Vivar is a longtime Team Stride for Stride runner who understands firsthand the belonging and opportunity this team creates. Seeing Stride for Stride running together through the streets of Chelsea is an honor for our entire community.
To all 49 team members: thank you for showing Chelsea what unity looks like in motion. Your presence made our race stronger, more welcoming and more reflective of the community we aspire to be.
Chelsea Recreation & Cultural Affairs and the Chelsea Road Race proudly congratulate Team Stride for Stride—our three-time and 2026 Largest Team Champion!
Three years. Three victories. One powerful mission: making races more accessible and more diverse. ❤️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️

❤️ COMMUNITY PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: GONNELLA LAW ❤️
Some sponsors place their name on an event. Others help create moments that people will remember forever.
Gonnella Law did exactly that for the 2026 United in Ability Chelsea Road Race.
Through their generous support, our start and finish line was transformed into a beautiful celebration of Chelsea. The custom ScrimLite™ event fencing welcomed our runners home and proudly displayed the identity of our race, our city, and our Community of Champions.
Gonnella Law also provided the custom winners’ break tape—the tape our champions broke as they crossed the finish line and made Chelsea history. Those images captured more than a victory; they captured determination, inclusion, pride, and the spirit of our entire community.
Every detail was created with care. Amanda Falcao brought our vision to life through her beautiful design, and Matt personally coordinated its production in California. Matt’s kindness, generosity, and belief in our mission made this collaboration possible.
To Matt, Amanda, and the entire Gonnella family: thank you for believing in the Chelsea Road Race and in the people of Chelsea. Thank you for supporting running, health, wellness, and the belief that everyone deserves a place at the starting line.
Your support did more than make our race look beautiful. It helped us create a start-and-finish experience worthy of our athletes, our city, and this historic United in Ability celebration.
We are deeply grateful to recognize Gonnella Law as an Official Sponsor of the 2026 United in Ability Chelsea Road Race.
Thank you for standing with Chelsea, investing in our community, and helping us welcome every runner across the finish line like a champion.
From the starting line to the final victory, your generosity was part of every unforgettable moment. ❤️🏁🏆
