Slightly belated pick-up from a couple weeks back. A new (to-me) Sinn 556 I Mother of Pearl!

A used example popped up locally at a great price I couldn’t pass up on.

Thanks for @kindaaveragewatches for once again, being a bad influence and for his immpecably well tuned Facebook Marketplace Algorithm, and @icecreamlens for bringing my attention to this variant last year.

Dial goes from a yellow / red / green to a slate grey depending on how the light hits. I call it a “special sauce” dial - one in which springs to life under certain circumstances and commands a second glance, but otherwise, is fairly understated.
�The AR coating on both sides of the glass makes for a crazy viewing experience. At times the crystal appears invisible and it feels like you can just reach out and grab the hands.

Though I’ve yet to put this on a timegrapher, accuracy wise, the top-grade SW200 is well within the max specs of -4s -> +15s a day, with this example comfortably sitting at around +8.6s a day (much prefer a watch run a bit fast than slow). Aggressively knurled signed crown is nice. Movement decoration is a nice touch.

The H-link bracelet, although not my first bracelet preference, gets the job done and is built like a tank. Clasp is solid but nothing to write home about compared to other clasps out there (imagine a German made Seiko style flip clasp).

Newer examples feature Sinn’s on the fly micro adjust clasp, though apparently at a thickness premium (you can’t have it all).

There’s also a.. diver’s extension neatly hidden away (which has proved very handy to allow friends with much bigger wrists to try the watch on).

Downside of having the glass coated on both sides is the risk of the AR coating scratching off over time. Despite a couple dings on the bezel, thankfully the AR coating on this is still pristine.

Lume is average and this won’t win any lume wars.

Overall - loving this piece so far, especially how dynamic the dial is. Can’t wait to get more wrist time!

Got married over the weekend! Wore the Grand Seiko #SBGA443 (early wedding gift from the in-laws) during our church ceremony and then the Tudor #BlackBayChrono on a @hemsutstraps Horween strap for our reception.

Being a watch nerd, I also had to also grab some wrist shots with the groomsmen and fellow watch friends of course!

Newest piece of jewellery @cullenjewellery “Harry” hammered finish in platinum 600.

Finally got to try out the new Tudor Black Bay Chrono 39 a couple weeks back. Dimensions are great - and are what the Black Bay Chrono should’ve had to begin with. Other differences include the more aggressively knurled crown which makes winding the watch much easier and the rivet free bracelet.

Looking forward to seeing this eventually being released in more muted colours.

The new Tudor Black Bay Chrono 39 wore perfectly. The more aggressively knurled crown is also a welcome addition. Looking forward to seeing more conservative colours being rolled out in the 39mm form factor.

First time seeing the @groneoldenzaal Moment Meter IRL 🇳🇱. 1 of 300 pieces.

On the hunt for me now - curved end link straps.

August 2026 wrist recap ⌚️
Spent the last week and a bit travelling to 🇲🇾

Great views from the @fifthavenuepenang rooftop pool!

This time around I opted to use an older Uniqlo homage of the Porter Yoshida Helmet bag (which was coincidentally purchased in KL years back), with a camera cube inside. My usual @wandrd.au Prvke 31 v1 was overkill for my smaller Fuji kit.

For an everyday bag, the @alpakagear Flow 4L was perfect size and the side of the bag made was a great mounting point for the @peakdesign Capture Clip. Only complaint is the padded strap’s shortest length is a bit too long (even as a taller individual).

Had a blast meeting Ong & Reg from @yuenwatchesofficial towards the end of my recent 🇲🇾 trip. Ended up chatting for a couple hours (and probably longer if I didn’t have other plans)!

Ong brought a couple prototypes of his first model - the mosaic Mother of Pearl Y-01 as well as some personal pieces. The mosaic MoP looked fantastic in real life and I loved the tasteful yet intentionally unconventional branding at the 2 o’clock and 8 o’clock positions.

Thank you for the hospitality! Can’t wait to see what is planned for Y-02 and Y-03 🤩.

Looking forward to returning the hospitality again in 🇦🇺!

I had the pleasure of finally meeting @ordinary_watch_guy and some of his watch friends over dinner last Monday night for a WGTG. Thank you Leon for organising and for the warm hospitality!

I’ve been chatting to Leon here and there over shared interests like watches, EDC (got influenced by him into picking up a Porter Tanker 🙈) and beyond. Was great to finally meet (the people you meet along the way being the best part of this hobby 🤝)!

Hope to catch you again in Penang or Perth next time 👋!

Not a fan usually of two tone but I don’t mind it on this 100 year anniversary OP36! Size wore great.

On the topic of Rolex - the Explorer 36 is still a strong contender for my first (and maybe only) 👑. Need to spend some extended time with one though.

Got to handle @watchmebiohack’s @xericwatches. Had a great weight to it! Fun piece.

Had a friend’s bucks (bachelor party) and dusted off a 14 year old 6900 G-Shock I’ve had since early uni. We went to paintball so I thought it was fitting to wear my “painting” / renovation watch 🔫

Always love seeing the green lume pop on this

Wife convinced me to pick up an @xteink X3 (ereader) and at time of writing, I’ve sunk 39 hours into reading on it. Great anti-doomscrolling device. Also attaches to the back of my iPhone 15 Pro via MagSafe which is handy.

Caught up with @kinda.average.watches last weekend and checked out some of his newer pieces in the stable.

Highlights were the Monbrey MB3 and the Fears Arnos. Surprisingly liked the tiger eye dial IRL more than in renders and I warmed up quickly to the shape of the Fears Arnos (not being a fan of Reverso shaped watches usually).

Throwback to this time last year when I first tried shooting watches with flash. Much harder than shooting with continuous light, but it’s a fun challenge (especially when there’s no modelling lamp to see where the light falls).

Had the pleasure of borrowing @matt.power_watch’s Sub 124060 around this time last year. A well built, simple and clean piece.

After test driving it for a couple weeks I realised I have no desire to pick one up, especially given my Pelagos 39 fills the diver spot in my collection Having said that, I did enjoy it for the more elevated, blingy nature, when compared to the more utilitarian nature of the Pelagos 39.

Would love to try a Sub 14060m next!
