The installation will be exhibited in @denieuwevorst as part of SO YOU THINK YOU KNOW DANCE in collaboration with @dansbrabant and @nederlandsedansdagen šŸ—“ Friday 9.10 | 19:30 ā€“ 22:30 šŸ“ De Nieuwe Vorst - Willem II-straat 49ā€š Tilburg THE DUST OF MY CONCRETE CHILD is a video catalogue consisting of 7 short films that portray 7 different perspectives of intimacy and violence. Stripped from their usual social and emotional context, intimacy is understood and explored as a fragile state and violence as a brutal force not as an act of aggression. As an installation all 7 films are running in a loop on 7 individual screens with headphones. This setting allows the audience to immerse themselves into a space and take time to explore each portrait in their own timing. Lingering in the atmosphere that the 7 films convey. THE DUST OF MY CONCRETE CHILD - PORTRAIT 1 & 2 (SWITZERLAND)ā  (a video catalogue of portraits on intimacy and violence)ā  ā  PORTRAIT 1: TEXTURE / PRESSURE / FRICTIONā  This film explores the interactions between raw materials and the body, between textures and sensations that emanate from it. Violence and intimacy are experienced as forces that provoke grinding, fragile, brutal and loaded sensations.ā  ā  PORTRAIT 2: VICIOUSNESS AND VULNERABILITYā  This dreamlike portrait follows the seven dancers on an incoherent journey of trying to find belonging and rest in a constantly shifting environment. Exposing yourself to intimacy is vulnerable and demands you to trust. Viciousness as a misleading development can make you doubt this trust. The performers navigate a finely tuned tension between brutality and fragility, articulating a choreographic language that is at once raw, controlled, and deeply embodied. What impressed the jury most is the performerā€™s capacity to sustain ambiguity: vulnerability is never passive, and viciousness never fully dominant. Instead, both coexist in a constantly shifting equilibrium, revealing a complex, layered physicality that resists simplification. The body carries the weight of memory, of environment, of lived experience and yet remains permeable, unstable and open. The relationship between the body and its urban (concrete) context further amplifies this tension, grounding the performance in a tactile sense of materiality while allowing moments of rupture and transcendence to emerge. This is a performance that does not seek resolution, but rather insists on presence, on staying with discomfort, contradiction, and transformation. šŸšØTRAILER RELEASEšŸšØ PORTRAIT 6: RISK AND BALANCE Emerging like newborn creatures covered in translucent residue, this portrait takes us on the evolution from fragile and helpless bodies to wild and curious beings. In a cold and alienated space the dancers attempt to stand and walk, vulnerability transforms into curiosity. With an urge to run and take risk they inhabit the space around them, testing their limitations and untamed energy and following their instinct to dare. A bit more than a week ago we were b l e s s e d with the support of all of these beautiful people, sharing what weā€™ve all been working so hard on during a sold out screening!! We, for the first time, watched ā€˜The Voidā€™ by yours truly and ā€˜Daughtersā€™ by @sarppinen, and ā€˜THE DUST OF MY CONCRETE CHILD - PORTRAIT 2: VISCOUSNESS AND VULNERABILITYā€™ by @lino.koichi @edenmnk @cruelbehavior_projects had itā€™s first Dutch showing, after which @dasheraa guided us through a Q&A :). What a ride to organize and curate and present an event including a film shown that I produced and directed and choreographer and starred in (could really not have done it without my people tho)!! 10000000x thank you to everyone involved.
