Something remarkable is happening at Eden.⠀
⠀
What does the earliest evidence of food sharing tell us about being human? Can our theological imagination be broad enough to engage the history and science of human evolution?⠀
⠀
These are the kinds of questions bringing people together at Eden Theological Seminary.⠀
This week, Eden welcomed members of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History’s Human Origins Program for an extraordinary time of learning, conversation, and community around Exploring Human Origins: What Does It Mean to Be Human?⠀
⠀
Dr. Rick Potts and Dr. Briana Pobiner of the Smithsonian joined Dr. Lee Meadows and Rev. Dr. Jim Miller, along with Eden students, faculty, staff, and community guests, for experiences that moved from our community meal and guided exploration of the exhibit to meaningful conversations connecting science, theology, faith, and what it means to be human. The Smithsonian’s Human Origins Program specifically designed these experiences to create space for dialogue across scientific, religious, and cultural perspectives. ⠀
⠀
We are grateful to have this remarkable resource for theological imagination, learning, and public conversation in our midst, and grateful that the conversation extends far beyond our campus. Eden and the exhibit have recently been featured by Spectrum News, the Kirkwood-Webster Times, and St. Louis Public Radio. ⠀
⠀
And there is still time to experience it for yourself.⠀
⠀
Exploring Human Origins is FREE and open to the public at Eden through December 15, Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., in the Luhr Reading Room of Press Hall.⠀
Come explore. Come ask questions. Come join the conversation.⠀

From Course Sharing to Course Creating: Momentum for Ministry Scholar-Teacher Teams Gather at Eden ⠀
⠀
Since 2023, the Network Model for Theological Education has expanded theological resources for students through cooperation and a cross-registration agreement among seminaries in the progressive Christian movement. Now, those relationships are deepening through the Momentum for Ministry Initiative, bringing together 13 faculty members from five theological schools to co-create courses and educational resources for vital congregations and their leaders in the digital age. In September, the Scholar-Teacher Teams gathered at Eden for their kick-off conference, an opportunity to think, create, and collaborate around what faithful and effective ministry can look like in a rapidly changing world.⠀

Eden has been on the move, connecting with communities and future theological leaders!

Eden was honored to be present at the 7th Annual Meeting of the Southern New England Conference UCC, connecting with alumni, friends, and attendees while sharing resources designed to strengthen congregations, organizations, and individuals.

And today, Eden is also represented at the Seminary Fair during the Forum for Theological Education’s Discernment Retreat in Peachtree City, Georgia. We’re grateful for another opportunity to connect with those discerning their next steps in theological education, ministry, and leadership.

From reconnecting with alumni to meeting future leaders, Eden continues to build relationships and create opportunities to learn, lead, and transform. by @edenseminary
