There’s something lovely about the start of a new school year: new teachers, new routines, new challenges and lots of opportunities ahead.

For some children, everything clicks into place straight away. For others, it can take a little time to settle, rebuild confidence or get back into the rhythm of learning after the summer break. That’s completely normal and every child’s start to the year looks a little different.

At the start of a new term, it can be tempting to focus straight away on grades, homework and getting ahead. But one of the most important things we can do is help children feel confident, settled and positive about learning. We’ve had a few parents ask us recently how they can best support their children during the transition into a new school year and often it’s the little things that can make the biggest difference.

Keeping conversations about school open and relaxed can be a great place to start. Questions such as “What was the best part of your day?”, “Was anything tricky today?” or “Is there anything you’d like some help with?” can encourage children to share far more than the usual “How was school?”
It can also help to give children a little time to settle into their new routines, celebrate their effort and perseverance as much as their results, and keep an eye on any subjects or areas where their confidence may begin to dip. And of course, plenty of downtime is important too (those first few weeks back can be tiring!)

After another wonderful (and very busy!) spring and summer term, we’re delighted to be growing our team once again!

Firstly, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our wonderful families for choosing Eden Tutors. Your continued support means so much to us, and we’re incredibly grateful to play a part in our students’ learning journeys. We’d also like give a warm welcome to all of the new families who have joined us recently.

It’s been one of our busiest terms yet, with lots of fantastic tutor and student pairings, and we’re excited for what the next academic year will bring.
As we prepare to welcome even more pupils over the coming months, we’re looking for passionate, dedicated tutors to join our growing team and help inspire the next generation of learners.

At Eden Tutors, many of our tutors work alongside full-time or part-time careers, while others have chosen to make tutoring their full-time profession. We provide high-quality tuition for children aged 3–11, supporting pupils across the Primary National Curriculum, as well as preparing students for the 7+, 11+ and Common Entrance examinations.

If you have a degree, teaching experience, or experience working with children, and you’re passionate about helping young learners build confidence and reach their full potential, we’d love to hear from you. A child’s potential should never be limited by their postcode. The latest 2025 GCSE data paints a clear picture of the educational divide that still exists across different parts of the country.

GCSE and A Level exams have now begun and we know this can be a demanding time, bringing a mixture of nerves, pressure and emotion, not just for students but for families too.

Firstly, we want to wish every student the very best of luck as they head into exam season. So much hard work, preparation and dedication has gone into reaching this point and we are incredibly proud of all of our pupils!

Choosing the right senior school can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to navigate 11+, 13+, scholarships, boarding options and finding the right fit for your child. If those conversations are starting to become very real, The Independent Schools Show is definitely an event worth having on your radar.

The show returns to Lindley Hall on Thursday 14 May, bringing together over 60 leading independent day and boarding schools from London and across the UK. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet admissions teams face-to-face, hear from experts, ask the questions you’ve been Googling late at night and gain genuine clarity around senior school choices, scholarships, boarding and finding the right fit for your child. There will be plenty of help and advice throughout the day, with the opportunity to really ask the experts and get honest answers to the questions that matter most to your family.
