🫀✨Saturday 10/10 📍SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN ⏰ 2PM-10PM saturator is eight hours of nonstop club style sets from four underground NYC DJs. In an homage to uniquely New Yorkian rave culture, DJs duckie casanova, Mars Dietz a.k.a. Sapphic F████, ashtroboi, and Michael Thomas will bring you on a deep dive through a bricolage of bass-forward genres. saturator celebrates the launch of Positive Deviance’s campaign to sustain the next chapter of public-health forward clean-air cultural programming. * saturator takes place in a wheelchair-accessible warehouse garage space and theater stripped down to bare walls on the industrial south Brooklyn waterfront. * Phone lenses will be stickered at the door with a no phones on the dancefloor policy. *spectacle << sweat. * situated in the Pandemicene - masks are required at all times inside the venue, with SIP valves available for drinking. Tomorrow is a solo show from @sapphicfaggot warming up for this weekend’s daylong rave Saturator, a little dream I’ve been dreaming for a long time and finally brought to life, thanks to Edge Case familiars and worldwide sensations @mic_wave and @marcelrosasalas of @positivedeviancenyc, who just launched their fundraiser this week for another year of programming - click their page & get in on that!! I’ll see what happens on tomorrow’s show as I pull up to @makerparkradio and unfurl my sails to navigate the crates. I’ve got some new stuff and took a few things out of rotation to prepare for my typical total improvisation just feeling where to go from moment to moment. That’s the only way to truly play for me, high risk but high reward. That’s how I’m hitting Saturday too between some b2bs with the illustrious @ashtpayne1 and @duckiewuzhere. This Friday we are so looking forward to hosting an amazing Edge Case show on @makerparkradio @__reemoabd and @ashtpayne1 on the decks for 2 hours total, officially inaugurating our new every-other-week frequency on air. These two visionary sound collagists & disc jockeys have been working on an offering that I can't wait to put out to the steam and to the infinite replay on vimeo archive. This Friday Edge Case 009.1 is a solo show with Mars Dietz p.k.a. @sapphicfaggot bringing tracks from a freshly reorganized library featuring folders such as "HEHEHE," "SOUNDCLOUDESQUE," and some homemade "SF BLENDS" picked ripe from the vine. Happy Birthday week to @queershoulders, our next guest joining @edgecase.worldwide for their first all-vinyl set! danilo is a poet, curator, critic, and DJ whose editorial ear brings us unexpected collisions of pop references shimmering with wit, humor and joyful experimentation. Together with @how.we.imagine, they founded and continue to organize @exquisitesbk, now sibling to @exquisitesbay. danilo and I had the pleasure of working together on events with @outerlistening where we've communed in co-creating gatherings that mixed creative experimentation, collective care and a little bit of ass shaking. I'm particularly excited for danilo to haul their vinyl out to Staten Island and give us all a taste of their amazing collection. Meet Mars Dietz, host of Edge Case. Mars is an intermedia sound artist and DJ from Brooklyn whose work takes many forms, from the club style and experimental DJ sets of Edge Case, to outdoor sound sculpture, to hardware electronic live sets in stereo and multichannel. Mars’ solo work is often research-driven, touching on topics such as climate catastrophe (Detuning, 2025); freedom-seeking revolt and disobedience to linear time (Time Demonstrations, 2026); and a critique of human rights discourses’ focus on the confessional subject (Freedom from Speech, 2018). Mars started DJing while living in Berlin, and became resident at the legendary underground party BODYSNATCH from ~2016-2023. For Mars, DJing is a way of grabbing hold of, twisting and bending time itself, bringing audiences along for the ride. The inherently pluralistic, dialogic and multiple nature of club style mixing allows for the multiplicity of the DJ set to reflect complex real world conditions, opening up the dancefloor to the grief, longing, passion, contradiction and catharsis that always simmers underneath moments of joy in a world like ours. Edge Case takes its name from a concept in engineering describing problems or anamolies that occur only in rare extreme (mis)use cases of a system. The widespread normalization of algorithmic recommendation in consumer listening patterns (i.e. streaming apps) and the top-down enforcement of LLM chatbots that fundamentally and exclusively output averages, both make it so that "edge cases" and anamolous outputs are more and more erased from the commons. In a world governed by mathematical averging, Edge Case is an exclusively human-driven corner resisting algorithmic flattening to explore fringes in sonic exploration, using the possibilities of club and electronic music as a point of departure. Edge Case is every fourth Friday from 12-2pm. Next show is on July 17th. I’m so fortunate to have met the two DJs, artists, brilliant minds ashtroboi and Duckie Casanova @duckiewuzhere in 2026, and even more fortunate to have had them on Edge Case in April. They both bring focused craftsmanship, creativity, expressiveness, joy, and passion to their DJing in a way that is clearly resonant, electrifying and filled with attention - the latter of which seems otherwise sapped from our desaturating world. Both ashtroboi and Duckie Casanova read their own poetry out into the mix interweaving words, worlds and layers of experience. This is one of two clips of those readings, ft. This has been a bigg month, so this Friday's Edge Case is gonna be a solo show. Thinking of playing music I used to listen to in 2007 - 2016 from my very extensive "scrobbled" list on last.fm. Or maybe some things from the "Weird Music" folder on my USB? Audio on this post is recorded from some no-input mixer improvisations I did when I had the Mackie HMX-56 which really was the best...
