Months of persistent nitrite problems. One 70L aquarium. 🌿

I decided to reset the system and rebuild its biological balance following the 2Hr Aquarist approach.

From 0.5 mg/L → 0 mg/L.

Hey, have you noticed what makes the IAPLC 2026 winning aquascape so special?

Impressive driftwood or beautiful plants? Check out how the massive tree structures create scale, how the branches draw your eyes into the distance, and how that bright opening in the centre gives the whole piece incredible depth…

The plants also follow the wood naturally, while light/shadow create that feeling of an ancient, underwater forest…

For me, every element works together to tell one forest story…

Of course, without the judges’ detailed scores and feedback, this is just my interpretation of what makes this layout so cool.

It doesn’t just show nature, it makes me feel like you’re looking into it…

🌿 Consistency beats perfection.

A healthy aquarium doesn’t need constant adjustments. It needs the right conditions — maintained consistently. 🌱

✅ Regular maintenance
✅ Stable CO₂ and lighting
✅ Consistent fertilization
✅ Observing plant growth and responding when needed

The secret isn’t changing more. It’s understanding what your aquarium needs and giving it time to respond.

At EdgruSCAPE, we believe in healthy, balanced aquariums that are easier to maintain and enjoy long-term. 💚

🌿 Are your aquarium plants suddenly dying?

It often isn’t as sudden as it looks. Changes in CO₂, light, nutrient availability, water flow or maintenance can develop over days or weeks before plants visibly decline.

Instead of immediately changing several things, start with one simple question:

What has changed?

Here is a guide about how to systematically look for the cause and bring a planted aquarium back towards stable, healthy growth.

🇩🇪 The full article is in German, but it can easily be translated with Google Translate or your browser’s built-in translation.

🌿 Aquascaping Tip of the Week

Healthy plants are your aquarium’s best indicator. 🌱

Instead of chasing individual water parameters, look at your plants: Are they producing new leaves? Growing steadily? Showing good colour and form?

Consistent plant growth tells you much more about aquarium stability than a single test result.
