A little less Wi-Fi, a little more we-time!

On 31st October and 1st November , 2026 my husband, our friends and I celebrated our anniversary at Raj Farm Stay Resort, Silvassa, and came back with much more than holiday pictures.

The train and road journeys were part of the fun, but the real magic began amidst the greenery. Our morning trek, a refreshing swim, delicious food and par excellence hospitality made the getaway memorable.

And the biggest surprise? Barely any mobile network! 📵 We had to find a particular spot for Wi-Fi. What initially seemed inconvenient turned into a lovely reminder that some of the best connections don't need a network.

We laughed, talked and discovered little things about one another, not just as couples but as friends. The cloudy, breezy morning didn't stop our badminton match, and meeting a beautiful horse up close gave me a picture-perfect moment!

The mesmerising nursery, birds and natural surroundings added their own charm. Even a short escape can feel like a complete detox when nature sets the pace.

My takeaway? Sometimes, the best way to reconnect with people is to disconnect from our phones.

Raj Farm Stay Resort is worth considering if you're craving a change from city life, quality time with loved ones and a nature-filled break.

💬 Tell me: Could you spend an entire weekend with minimal mobile network? Would you enjoy the silence or miss your screen?

Some journeys take you places. Some bring you closer to what truly matters.

Ahmedabad to Galiyakot | 2–4 October 2026
Fresh from the blessings of Milad, we set off on a family journey, my husband, my son and I, travelling via Ahmedabad towards Galiyakot. What began as a short getaway became a beautiful reminder that some journeys nourish the soul in ways words can barely capture.

Planning, making niyyat, working out the route, anticipating the moments of dua, and finally setting out with a heart full of hope.

After a short halt at Ahmedabad for ziyarat, we set out for Galiakot.

At the sacred Mazaar of Babji Moula, Syedi Fakhruddin Shaheed (RA), there is a sukoon that is difficult to explain to someone who has not experienced it. You may arrive carrying a hundred thoughts, responsibilities, questions and silent duas, but in that sacred atmosphere, something within you settles.

As someone who has spent years teaching and edifying young minds, I found myself reflecting on how learning takes many forms. Some lessons come from books and classrooms. Others arrive in silence, in prayer, in the company of loved ones, and in places where the heart feels closer to its purpose.

Family travel gives you photographs and memories, but a journey of faith gives those memories another dimension. We did not just travel together; we shared a moment of reflection that will remain with us forever, etched in our hearts.

Returning with a heart full of shukr, I am reminded that niyyat gives a journey its direction, faith gives it meaning, and sukoon becomes its most beautiful souvenir. Galiyakot was one of those journeys for me.

Istefaadah 1448 Reflections...

Not every doorway has a signboard. Some simply ask you to step in.
As I look back at Istefaadah Ilmiyaah 1448 in Surat, I realise that perhaps the most beautiful part of the experience was not just the ilm I heard, but the many doorways towards ilm that appeared along the way.
Some were obvious.
The majlis.
The words of wisdom.
The opportunities to learn.
But some were much quieter.
A conversation with someone I had just met.
A new perspective shared over a cup of tea.
A business discussion that made me think differently.
A product displayed at a stall that opened a completely new avenue.
A moment of pause that taught me something about myself.
I came to realise that ilm doesn't always arrive as a lesson. Sometimes, it arrives disguised as an experience.
This Istefaadah opened many such doors for me.

One of the most cherished was the opportunity to do ARAZ and HADIYAH of my string-art frame to Moula.Alhamdulillah, that feeling is difficult to put into words.
And then came another blessing that I will carry in my heart.

Moula did NAZAR on my protein date balls.

This Isteefaadah also reminded me that rizq has many forms.
Sometimes it is financial.
Sometimes it is a new connection.

And sometimes, it is simply the gift of seeing the world with a slightly wider lens.
I walked into Istefaadah thinking I would gather ilm.
I walked out feeling that I had gathered perspective.
Spiritually, it enriched me.
Personally, it stretched me.
Professionally, it opened new possibilities.
Financially, it brought its own blessings.
And perhaps that is what these doorways were really teaching me:
Don't limit ilm to the doors you already know.
Walk through the unfamiliar ones too.
Alhamdulillah for every doorway that opened in Surat.

Sometimes, the most rewarding lessons are the ones we step out of our comfort zone to teach.

On 12th October, I had the opportunity to conduct a session on Anger Management and Mood for the students of Grades 7 and 8 at Lourdes Convent School, organised by the PTA members.

A new topic for me to facilitate, this session was as much a learning experience for me as I hoped it was for the students.

And then came my favourite part of the session!
In a world where smart board and screens have become part of everyday learning, I chose to go old school, with nothing but a board, chalk and conversations. No slides, no screens, just curious minds, honest questions, shared experiences and plenty of participation.

The students were wonderfully proactive, interactive and eager to share their thoughts. What made it even more special was seeing the PTA members join in, participate and enjoy the session alongside them. The questions kept coming, the discussions flowed, and we ended on a truly satisfying note.
It was a gentle reminder that sometimes, all a meaningful conversation needs is a little space, a listening ear and the willingness to engage.
As someone who has spent years teaching, counselling and mentoring young people, I have always believed that education goes beyond textbooks. Helping children understand their emotions, communicate better and respond thoughtfully is just as important as helping them prepare for their future.

My heartfelt gratitude to Allah for this opportunity to explore a new subject, challenge myself and discover that stepping outside our comfort zone can open doors we never expected. Alhamdulillah.
A special acknowledgement to Fatema, @fatemalokandwala20 and @rationallypsyched whose core concepts helped shape the foundation of this session.
Thank you to the PTA members of Lourdes Convent School for the opportunity and to the students for making my first session on this topic such a memorable one.

What if English stopped being a barrier… and became wings? 🪽
Today, ( September 6, 2026) I had the privilege of spending time with the Shalinis of Udayan Care for a session on something very close to my heart: the importance of English and communication.

And I didn't want to teach them English by making them feel that their mother tongue was somehow less important.
Instead, I wanted them to see English differently.
Not as a measure of intelligence.
Not as something to be afraid of.
Not as a language meant only for a privileged few.
But as a skill that can give them confidence, access and opportunities.
So I used a simple thought:
Birds don't fly because they have beautiful wings.
They fly because they use them. 🪽
And just like that, we explored English through activities, conversations, communication tips, games and lots of participation.
There were smiles.
There was hesitation.
There were mistakes.
There was laughter.
And most importantly, there was the willingness to try.
Because that's where learning really begins.
I kept reminding them:
You don't need perfect English to communicate.
You need the courage to start.
By the end of the session, seeing the enthusiasm and response of the Shalinis was deeply fulfilling.
As someone who has spent years teaching, training and mentoring, experiences like these remind me that education isn't only about classrooms, certificates or careers.
Sometimes, it is simply about giving someone the confidence to believe, “I can do this.”
Today was my small act of serving society.
A few hours of sharing what I know.
A few conversations.
A few smiles.

When you give someone the power of communication, you don't just teach a language.
You help give their voice a wider sky.
Thank you, Udayan Care, for giving me the opportunity to be a small part of this journey. ❤️
Want to speak English with confidence, not fear?

Because your voice deserves to be heard. 🪽

Amber Study Abroad Alert.

Earlier, F-1 students were generally admitted under Duration of Status.

In simple words, it meant: as long as you were following your student rules and maintaining your status, your stay was connected to your student programme. But from September 15, 2026, the USA is changing this. Students will generally get a fixed period of stay with a specific end date.

If you need more time to complete your studies, you may need to apply for an extension BEFORE that date.

The maximum is generally four years, but your authorised period can be shorter depending on your programme. So if you're planning your Master's or Bachelor's in the USA, don't panic. Just understand the new rule and keep a close eye on your immigration status.
Follow Amber International Careers. I simplify complicated study-abroad updates for students and parents.

When creativity becomes therapy… 🎨✨

For me, it has become a form of therapy. I have explored different creative arts. I learnt string art, felt technique, creative journaling, and most recently, pottery. 🧶📔🏺

And every new art has taught me something far beyond the technique itself.
It has taught me to slow down. To be patient. To make mistakes without feeling the need to be perfect. To begin again. To enjoy the process instead of constantly worrying about the outcome.
And perhaps that is exactly why creativity becomes so important in the second innings of life.
We spent the first innings ticking boxes.
Study. Career. Marriage. Children. Responsibilities. Deadlines.
We are constantly doing something for someone.
But somewhere along the way, we forget to ask:
“What do I enjoy doing just for ME?”
That is where creativity walks in. 🌿

✨ It keeps the brain curious and engaged.
✨ It encourages learning and problem-solving.
✨ It gives us an outlet for emotions.
✨ It can calm an overactive mind.
✨ It builds confidence when we create something with our own hands.
✨ It helps us discover talents we never knew existed.
✨ And most importantly, it reminds us that we are still capable of becoming something new.
Pottery taught me something particularly beautiful.
You begin with a lump of clay that seems to have no identity.
You touch it, shape it, press it, reshape it…
And slowly, something emerges.
Perhaps life is a little like that too.
The second innings isn't about becoming a different person.
It is about discovering the parts of yourself that had been waiting patiently to be expressed.

Pick up the brush. Try the clay. Write a journal page.
You don't need to create a masterpiece.

What is the one thing that you always wanted to learn but kept postponing? Share in the comment box.
