The Architecture of Nature.
Photography is sexy. Deeply personal, and at the same time, it’s like laying your soul bare—splat, splat :)
And it’s always that Wiplala feeling: “…but all of this was merely the prologue... and now, the true story begins.” :

There are plenty of photos out there where a insect’s eyes stare back at you in razor-sharp, technically flawless focus. I’s brilliant, it’s impressive, it’s a feat of engineering... but the soul of it? The story? … maybe the Irish ways have finally rubbed off on me :) -give me a proper cup of tea and a good legend any day.
…when you press that shutter, you feel this tiny, inexplicable shiver run right through you. And then you do it again, and another fifty times, all on the exact same blade of grass—chasing the shifting light, capturing the movement, freezing the heartbeat just before it happens, and all those quiet, hidden moments in between.

Imminent 🌱

To burst forth and open up is to reveal your inner world. The opening of a peony is not simply blossoming- it is a slow, majestic drama where every single petal tells its own story. Yet, if you look truly closely at the post-rain droplets on a bud through a macro lens, those delicate drops transform into heavy, plump spheres of water, each one reflecting an entire upside-down world-the garden, the sky, and a tiny, upside-down you with your camera.

Slow-off

It was a rainy day and after the rain, there were lots and lots of snails crawling around. The good thing about snails is that they move soooooo slow.😊
I found the perfect snail model who was a total show-off, slowly striking all kinds of elegant, high-fashion poses on a wet leaf. As beginner in macro photography, it made me wonder why on earth I hadn’t started my ‘creature-hunting’ with snails in the first place, instead of getting so frustrated trying to chase down those caffeinated, fast little bugs!
It turns out the best models in the animal kingdom don’t wear haute couture- they carry their entire dressing room on their backs!

Cutie.

My sister and I were sitting on the steps of our summer cottage, sipping our morning coffee, when a bug- flew straight into my sister’s head at full speed and then landed dazed on the stairs. Still groggy from the morning, I just stared at it blankly; it was about a centimeter long and didn’t look exciting at all. Suddenly my sister shouted:
“There it is, your first macro bug!”
“Oh wow!” I gasped,
already flying towards the house to get my macro lens.
Since I’ve just started peeking into the wonderfully fascinating world of macro photography, this situation was pure luck. I’ve tried hunting bees and flies before, but for a beginner, catching those fast-moving creatures is a total mission impossible- the result is always just a blurry-wurry blob.
But today I got lucky. There was one drowsy insect model and one ultra-enthusiastic photographer.
And that’s how it happened.
My very first cutie.

I am taking photos with a smartphone using the Reeflex Telephoto 240mm lens with a macro attachment. I am a complete beginner, but it’s a whole new, wonderful world opening up through this lens.
