😼 Today’s focus is on the screenprint “Stan 3”, 2026, 50 x 35 cm, by artist Yoan Mudry @yoan.mudry based on a painting from his series “A brief history of humanity and how it will end”.

A cute cat looks back at us with large eyes, while the background resembles a cloud of smoke, as though the world has already crumbled into ash. The contrast between the familiar animal and the possible end of humanity is both humorous and unsettling.

📣 Zuwachs für unsere Sammlung: Die neuste Förderedition in Kooperation mit dem Verein für Originalgraphik @editionvfo ist da! Die von Valentin Rilliet @valentinrilliet gestaltete Edition umfasst vier Lithografien, welche der Künstler in einem neunmonatigen Workshop in der Steindruckerei Wolfensberger @steindruckereiwolfensberger entwickelte. Entstanden sind die Arbeiten «Ghost of a Dragonfly», «Heist», «Aquamarine» und «An Escape in Jade». 🎏🐉

Rilliets Bildwelten wirken wie Ausschnitte aus Geschichten, deren Anfang und Ende ausserhalb des Dargestellten liegen. Seine Arbeiten verweben Figuren, Motive und Bildfragmente der westlichen und östlichen Kunstgeschichte, Mythologie und Volkserzählung mit Beobachtungen des Künstlers. Als wichtige Inspirationsquelle dienen ihm chinesische Lián Huàn Huà, populäre Bildgeschichten, aus denen Rilliet Elemente übernimmt und in neue Zusammenhänge setzt.

Während in der reduzierten Szenerie von «Ghost of a Dragonfly»

(Slide 1) ein rotes Fabelwesen auf eine Libelle trifft, wird in «Heist»
(Slide 2) die Bildfolge einer Ernteszene als möglicher Tatort inszeniert. «Aquamarine»
(Slide 3) zeigt die Begegnung zwischen einer Person und einem karpfenartigen Fisch, und «An Escape in Jade»
(Slide 4) führt in ein geheimnisvolles Interieur mit zwei janusköpfigen Frauenfiguren. Was in Rilliets Werken genau geschieht, bleibt dabei bewusst offen.

Die Lithografien erscheinen weniger als Übertragungen seiner Malerei, denn als eigenständige Malereien auf Papier – bedächtig aufgebaut, Farbe für Farbe, und so präzise erarbeitet, dass aus handwerklicher Konzentration etwas entsteht, das sich einer eindeutigen Interpretation entzieht.

📍Bis 16. Januar 2027 werden «Ghost of a Dragonfly», «Heist», «Aquamarine» und «An Escape in Jade» in der Ausstellung «Storylines» ausgestellt (Edition VFO – Limmatstrasse 268, 8005 Zürich – Mi-Fr 14-18 Uhr, Sa 12-16 Uhr).

📸 Today we are excited to share with you more details and installation views of the four new lithographs by artist Valentin Rilliet @valentinrilliet , on view as part of our current exhibition at Edition VFO “Storylines” with Valentin Rilliet, Yoan Mudry, Romane de Watteville, and Jeanne Jacob. @editionvfo

“Ghost of a Dragonfly”, 2026, 56 x 45.70 cm

and “An Escape in Jade”, 2026, 71.5 x 99 cm

All four lithographs have been produced over the course of almost 9 months at Steindruckerei Wolfensberger @steindruckereiwolfensberger @zurichprintinstitute

The stones used for each work determined its format and framing, while each layer of color required the composition to be recalibrated. Rilliet works much like a filmmaker or writer who returns to characters and situations and gives them new roles. The four sheets thus appear as episodes from a larger mythology glimpsed only in part. The smartphone is at once a lens, a screen, and a barrier between the depicted figure and the viewers. Today’s focus is on the new series of 15 unique works combining lithography and monotype by artist Jeanne Jacob @schaan__ titled “Known gestures whatever happens”, 2026, 40 x 60.2 cm each.

Jeanne Jacob created this new series at @steindruckereiwolfensberger and @zurichprintinstitute .
It is currently on view as part of our new group exhibition “Storylines” with works by Valentin Rilliet, Yoan Mudry, Romane de Watteville, and Jeanne Jacob.

The gestures in the artworks appear familiar but cannot be clearly defined. They may be protective, tender, or possessive and recall Pietàs and angels as much as codified depictions of heroic acts in film. Between struggle and tenderness, Jacob explores how intimacy can be represented, performed, and genuinely felt. (Excerpts from the exhibition text by Valérie Hashimoto and David Khalat)

✏️ Ein bedeutendes Zeugnis des schweizerischen Grafikschaffens bereichert die Sammlungen der Schweizerischen Nationalbibliothek: 2024 schenkte der Verein für Originalgraphik (@editionvfo ) der Graphischen Sammlung der NB sein Archiv.

Darin entdecken Sie über 300 druckgrafische Editionen und Unikate auf Papier. Holzschnitte, Heliogravüren, Lithografien, Radierungen und Siebdrucke zeigen die Vielfalt der Schweizer Druckgrafik.

Der Archivbestand ist nun in HelveticArchives recherchierbar. Die Sammlung wird laufend erweitert und trägt dazu bei, die Druckgrafik für kommende Generationen zu bewahren.

✏️ Un précieux témoignage de la création graphique suisse rejoint les collections de la Bibliothèque nationale suisse : en 2024, l’Association pour l’œuvre graphique originale (@editionvfo ) a fait don de ses archives au Cabinet des estampes de la BN.

Vous y découvrirez plus de 300 éditions d’estampes et œuvres uniques sur papier. Gravures sur bois, héliogravures, lithographies, eaux-fortes et sérigraphies illustrent la richesse de l’art de l’estampe en Suisse.

Désormais consultable dans HelveticArchives, cette collection continuera de s’enrichir et contribuera à préserver ce patrimoine artistique pour les générations futures.

✏️ Un'importante testimonianza della creazione grafica svizzera entra a far parte delle collezioni della Biblioteca nazionale svizzera: nel 2024, l’Associazione per la grafica originale (@editionvfo ) ha donato il proprio archivio al Gabinetto delle stampe della BN.

La raccolta comprende oltre 300 edizioni di grafica d’arte e opere uniche su carta. Xilografie, eliogravure, litografie, acqueforti e serigrafie mostrano la ricchezza della grafica svizzera.

Ora consultabile in HelveticArchives, la collezione continuerà ad ampliarsi, contribuendo a preservare questo patrimonio culturale per le generazioni future.
