Ozone Pocket Rocket Ultra-X 4.3: First Impressions

Ed @edjunquet just got his hands on the new Ozone Pocket Rocket Ultra-X 4.3, and while the wind hasn’t cooperated enough for a first flight yet, there’s already plenty to notice.
Ozone has gone all in on making the Ultra-X lighter and easier to pack down. Built with super lightweight 25-gram ripstop fabric, it’s 17% lighter than the Pocket Rocket V2 and packs down 20% smaller. The goal? Keep that explosive Pocket Rocket performance while making it even more efficient, especially when the wind is light and you’re transitioning between downwind bumps.
Ed also noticed the updated bar, borrowed from the Afterburner, with its thumb placement and extra grip, along with the split-bar yoke system. And with the cutouts throughout the canopy helping reduce weight and packing volume, this thing is designed to feel minimal in your hands and in your pack.
The real test comes when Ed finally gets it in the air. His full review is on the way, so stay tuned!
Want to get your hands on the Ozone @ozone.wing Pocket Rocket Ultra-X? You can find it through the shop link.

FIVE HOURS. 30+ MILES. One 4M Frigate V2.

Ed @edjunquet got his first real taste of the F-One @fonefoil Frigate V2 in Hood River and put it through a serious session.
Riding in winds from the mid 20s into the high 20s, he spent about five hours testing the 4M through gusts, long upwind runs, downwind swells and plenty of stowing and redeploying.

The biggest standouts?

The upwind performance was right up there with the best single skin parawings Ed has ridden.
The new stow lines are smooth and easy on the hands, making it simple to get the Frigate out of the air when turning downwind onto a swell.

The smaller bar and updated grip also made a noticeable difference, especially while riding with a harness for long sessions.
After 30 miles or more, Ed came away seriously impressed with the V2.

Have you tried the F-One Frigate V2? What do you think?

This Foil Feels Like a Surfboard

Ed @edjunquet gets his first ride on the F-One @foneamerica SUSHI at AWSI and immediately gets fired up about how much fun it is.
After trying the 920 in some bumps, then wing the 1022 Ed loved how the SUSHI carved and rolled from rail to rail. Riding the XS fuse with the 158 tail, he said it felt much more like surfing a surfboard than riding a high aspect foil.

This isn’t the foil you’re choosing for maximum glide. It’s built around turning, carving, and staying in the pocket. The glide is there, and Ed said the pumping felt surprisingly good, but it’s definitely a different experience from a high aspect foil.
Three waves. Your best turns. Paddle back out. Repeat.

Got questions about the F-One SUSHI?

Flysurfer ZAP: The Upwind Performance of a Double-Skin Parawing.

Ed @edjunquet from Green Hat Kiteboarding gets out on the 5M Flysurfer @flysurfer_northamerica ZAP, Flysurfer’s take on the double-skin parawing.
The standout feature? Upwind performance. Ed was impressed by how comfortable and effortless it felt to harness in and work his way upwind, especially in the side-onshore conditions.
The trade-off is packability, the ZAP takes a little more effort to pack away. But if you’re looking to cover a lot of ground upwind before doing downwind laps, or you primarily cruise flatwater and don’t need to constantly stash the wing, the double-skin design could be a great option.

Have questions about the @flysurfer_northamerica Flysurfer ZAP? Give us a call at (732) 284-3800 or reach out in the comments. We want to know what do you think of the double skin parawings?

Vadim and Ed @edjunquet finally got all three 5M Ozone @ozone.wing parawings on the water, the Afterburner, Pocket Rocket V2, and Powerpack.

With perfect wind for the 5M wings, they were able to compare the on-water feel, upwind angles, packability, jumps, handling, and tacks while getting some great drone footage along the way. A perfect day to put all three wings to the test and see how they actually feel on the water.

Watch the complete on water comparison in the link in bio and grab your Ozone parawings in the shop link.

If the waves are chest-high, would Ed @edjunquet rather wing foil in the waves or downwind in the bay?

For Ed, there’s something about riding waves that keeps pulling him back. The endless possibilities 360s, jumping, cutbacks, and just getting creative.

Downwinding is still incredibly fun, but the waves give him a lot more options to play with.

Once the wind starts pushing 20 mph, this is the setup Ed @edjunquet grabs almost every time. The AFS @afsfoils Silk V2 950 paired with the Surf 135 tail and the short fuselage has become his favorite combination. It carves beautifully, has plenty of low-end lift, and keeps me flying even on 1–2 foot waves.

Check out the full video in the link in bio.

The one question we have been asking since the dawn of time. Trench or Integrated Mast?

Ed has been using Foil Drive products since the Max release, and has tried just about every integration since. At 210 and 6’2 he was blown away at the 45 Liter Sunova @sunova_foil X Foil Drive @foildrive Trench Board. We got a great first feels review on this board on our Youtube and you can grab yours at our shop.

Got questions? Give us a call at 732-284-3800.

What are your thoughts on trench boards, and what setup are you riding right now? Let us know in the comments!

Dusting off the dock start skills with @edjunquet. It’s been a minute since Ed jumped off the ledge, and while the first few attempts were a bit rusty, the glide on the @afsfoils Enduro 1600 picked up the slack pretty quick.

Anyone else dusting off their dock starts this week?
