im Strudel | Selbstbemalung by @edlenart

I was allowed to design a room installation with a school class. We worked on it for 1.5 months (2 hours per week) and this week for a few hours in a row for several days.

We painted large areas of fabric for the wall, redesigned furniture, created clouds, a tree trunk, a pond and more.
You can see our Wonderland currently at "das Wallenstein", Karl-Meißlstraße 1, 1200 Vienna. @daswallenstein

The theme of the project is reconnecting with nature; nature is a source of strength and inspiration for us, we draw energy from nature and it supports our health. We want to show all of this through our Wonderland.
Thanks to @daswallenstein (Anja😇) for giving me this opportunity 💝

Thanks to the art- and design school class 5g Gymnasium am Augarten and Lukas for realising this project with me 💝

Thanks to @paulusunterweger for setting up the installation with me 💝

Thanks to my model 💝

Thanks to @rudiakut1977 and
to my Mamsi @das.hedal for helping out 💝

Thanks to everybody for visiting our wonderland and having fun in it 💝

On not-so-rare occasions, my mouth happens to be faster than my brain, and I start saying stupid stuff. And while the stupid stuff is already coming out of my mouth, I can feel this kind of sharp sensation in my head.
I think that’s my brain screaming “STOOOOOP” while desperately trying to grow arms so it can cover my mouth and shut me up.

This helmet mask is a visualization of those not-so-rare moments.

As you can probably tell, I made this helmet mask very quickly because I lost my patience halfway through. Maybe this visualization will make another appearance as a painting someday. by @edlenart

Another helmet mask called “müde tanzmaus”.

A few weeks ago, I’d spent my evenings making helmet masks.

Haunted
Oil and Acrylic, 45 x 60 cm , 2026

This is one of our newest works and, together with another piece, marks an important step for us and our collaboration.

We love working together, exchanging our paintings and completely trusting each other to turn them into something new and exciting. Still, there were certain works that felt especially personal and important to us, works we hadn’t dared to share with each other yet.

Now, the time finally felt right. We are so happy about this process, the trust we’ve built, and we absolutely love what came out of it.

This painting is about the objectification of women and violence against them.
The work is deliberately direct and brutal, while its figures simultaneously seem to emerge from a strange fairy tale. This contradiction is intentional: fairy tales themselves are often beautiful and fantastical on the surface, yet remarkably cruel and unforgiving underneath.
