London Marathon - 3:40:33.

His justice truly prevailed 🥺

Thank you to @ldn_slct and @culturalhealthclub for the community, the plans, and the opportunity to make London my very first marathon.

Nearly two years of running now, and I’ve often hit milestones alone or on a whim. I’m grateful I saved this iconic distance to experience it collectively.

I was left with mixed emotions. On one hand, proud and deeply grateful. I was able to make it to both the start and the finish of this race. On the other, I knew I had more in me that day and felt I played it a bit safe, leaving me feeling a little dissatisfied with my debut overall. Through His justice, I entered marathon week strong, despite countless times during the block of feeling the complete opposite, both mentally and physically, and so I question if I showcased my true capability that day.

However, I give myself the UTMOST praise!! A four month block including three weeks of 18-hour fasts, three weeks of IT band injury and no running (AGAIN), and only one 32km run. That’s a testimony. Not to mention fueling challenges and starting the race five waves behind, welppp.

This is momentum. A beautiful reminder to the fact that through Him I’m built for this, Amen, and the best is yet to come. A new flicker has been added to the flame. Thank you to the Most High for showing uppp 🙏🏽

BSc (Hons), Class I

It feels weird to be vulnerable online, but this deserves a few words. A diagnosis in January 2024 turned my world upside down and led to me having to unexpectedly leave university just two months before finishing my final year - something almost unheard of.

This broke, yet also strengthened me. I came so close, yet so far.

By God’s grace, came the ability to run. This gave me the drive, discipline and resilience to finish what I started. I returned to uni alone to face final year again. I commuted from London to Birmingham, while navigating the diagnosis and managing appointments, work, and the dreaded ‘post-uni emotions’ - while ironically still being a student 🤣

To say this chapter is now closed, and that I’ve graduated with a First is nothing short of God’s work. God carried me through this extremely challenging season, blessed me with family to lean on, and proved to my Year 11 self that I am capable of higher education - something she never believed she’d go on to do.

This was the ultimate test of endurance for me. I didn’t quit. And I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without this journey.
