It’s been years since I’ve made cyanotypes. But I keep seeing them everywhere and I was influenced! I just wanted to see if my chemistry was still good so I literally poured some on paper and grabbed whatever botanicals were nearby. Moved ‘em around a bit during exposure. Booya! Chemistry IS still kicking. 😁

I wonder though… is Mitch McConnell? by @edstoune

A new print!
I was messing around and this came to be. The thing is, I’m not sure it really works but it works for me. I can’t point my finger on why I love it but I do! by @edstoune

I found some different plate material - I think it’s stuff for cutting stencils on. One has a bit of dry point added and I like how the watercolor flowed. The other is full of soft texture that I adore. Just watercolor doing what it does. by @edstoune

These two watercolor monotypes different but I get a strong floral vibe with them. by @edstoune

For this watercolor monotype, I folded the plate instead of the paper. I love how the colors reacted to the not-quite-flat surface. by @edstoune

I’ve been focusing on watercolor monotypes the last few weeks. This one came out particularly pleasing to me because of its vibrancy. by @edstoune

I made another watercolor print! It was born from noticing the lines from wax paper under a blank plate. I was entranced by those lines! So, I had to do something with ‘em.

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted anything new. I’ve been hard at play on watercolor monotypes, testing mixtures and papers to capture that spontaneity that only watercolor can deliver so softly and quietly (if desired). This one whispers. No need to shout. Just look and be reminded there is so much unity in the beauty of our differences. So much power. So much love.

Unburying the studio has been the first order of business before I get back to the fun part of making new prints. Digging through it all, sorting it for collage, the bin or to keep for reference. The bull-clipped stack is all the different mixes of inks, paints, mediums, etc., with notes on all my experiments. Then there were the prints I rejected outright for whatever reasons. But looking at them now… there are some I really like. They have some freshness or texture or something else that pleases my eyes. It was interesting to go back over the heap and my studio is feeling more welcoming already. by @edstoune

Day 100!!!

Well, here we are at day 💯. The project might be over but the work will definitely continue. The gifts of this project are innumerable and I am so excited to see where this printmaking thing takes me. For my last two prints, I utilized my favorite spontaneous texture (from wax paper) and also what I think of as spontaneous collagraph (from my English muffin packaging).

Day 99
(can ya believe it?!)

A couple of spontaneous texture prints… again from wax paper that served as a shield for another print that wasn’t dry yet. For the first, I used two colors. The second is an overprint of the first with some spots to let some light in.

Day 98

A tetrad of sweet, vintage looking (to me, anyway) botanical prints with just a wee bit of embellishments.
