Two cities, one team, one shared mission. 💙🧡

Te Lo Cuento News’s commitment to community journalism brings our team together across cities and states.

📍 In New York City, Jessi Freitas, our Content Editor, represented Te Lo Cuento News at the Latino Media Summit 2026 at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, connecting with colleagues and contributing our newsroom’s perspective to conversations about Latino journalism.

📍 In Pittsburgh, Eduardo Hayek, our National Outreach Director, and Carlos Roa, our Pennsylvania Editor, are leading a community conversation in partnership with Factchequeado. Featuring Susan Baida, Alicia Sewald-Cisneros, and Rafael Collazo, the gathering focuses on election questions, Latino electoral participation, and the community’s information needs.

These efforts support our broader work serving communities in Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa in the Midwest, as well as Pennsylvania.

As a newsroom built by immigrant journalists, we bring professional expertise and lived experience to our reporting. We understand the importance of accessible, reliable information that reflects the realities of the communities we serve.

Our team works across geographic distances with a shared commitment: listening to our audiences, building trust, and producing journalism that helps people navigate their daily lives.

Te Lo Cuento News: immigrant journalists informing immigrant communities.

One of the most meaningful parts of leading Te Lo Cuento News is seeing members of our team grow as leaders and bring their experience into new conversations.

On October 26, @eduardohayek Hayek will represent Te Lo Cuento News at Penn State’s Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, joining the “Building a News Community” panel during the U.S. Media Literacy Week Kickoff Celebration.

As a founder, I am proud to see him share what we are learning about serving Spanish-speaking audiences and building community through local journalism. As someone who deeply values helping others grow, I am especially proud to see his leadership continue to develop.

Eduardo’s work, alongside @1carlosroa Roa in Pennsylvania, reflects the commitment of a team that keeps learning, building relationships, and moving our work forward.

This moment also makes me think of everyone who has contributed to Te Lo Cuento News, both past and present. Each has helped shape what we bring to these conversations today.

Congratulations, Eduardo. I am proud of you and the work we are building together.

As I always say: vamos juntos. We are in this together.

If you are in Pennsylvania, I hope you can join him on October 26 at the Bellisario Media Center.

I went to Chicago with high expectations and came back with new connections, fresh perspectives, and even more motivation to keep serving our community. 💛

Kaleidoscope Live 2026 was my first time attending as National Outreach Director. It meant so much to connect with colleagues and leaders doing incredible work in their communities. We came from different places, but shared the same purpose: making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

One experience that really stayed with me was a workshop where we stepped into the shoes of grant reviewers. When you’re seeking funding for your projects, you don’t always get to see the process from the perspective of those evaluating them. That exercise gave me a lot to reflect on.

Thank you to @borealisphilanthropy for creating this space and to @lenfestinstitute for making my participation possible. To @jeffreyaguzman , Jessica, Alícia, and everyone I had the chance to meet: thank you for your generosity, your ideas, and the laughs.

I’m back in Pittsburgh feeling grateful and inspired. There’s so much work ahead, and meeting so many committed people reminded me that we have a community to do it with. ✨ taken in Chicago, Illinois by @eduardohayek

Stay tuned for more updates on the Spring alumni’s work!! 🥳🙌🏽 #LatinosInMedia #LatinoCreators #MediaLiteracy #AI

For her final project, @ariannyrocks produced a series of media literacy trainings for families using what she learned in social listening and verification sessions.

@arigabriella created an AI agent to help her track political developments using what she learned from @estebanPDL in our session about building agents responsibly!

@eduardohayek harnessed telenovela culture to teach folks how to verify images using what he learned in our debunking and prebunking misinformation sessions! by @eduardohayek
