After Hurricane Melissa, many families across St. Elizabeth and neighboring parishes are still trying to rebuild from severe storm damages, including flooding that destroyed school bags, textbooks, and essential learning supplies.

As conversations continue, the Ministry of Education has been in active discussions about the best alternatives and strategies to help students in the most affected areas continue learning as quickly and effectively as possible.

At the same time, we have seen some schools move forward by inviting students—especially those preparing for both internal and external exams—to resume classes, so they don’t fall too far behind. This shows just how urgently our children need their learning materials restored.

At WalTech Bookstore, we hope that no child will fall behind because their books were washed away or their supplies were destroyed.
That is why we have launched the Educational Relief Initiative — a community-driven effort to support students whose learning was interrupted by Hurricane Melissa.

Through this program, we aim to help students replace:
📘 Textbooks
🎒 School bags
✏️ Stationery and academic essentials
🧼 Hygiene items
…and other supplies needed to get back on track.

We are inviting:
🤝 Publishers, distributors, educators, and well-wishers to donate or partner with us
📚 Families in affected communities to apply for assistance
💛 Community members to share this initiative so we reach the students who need it most

Together, let’s ensure our children have what they need to continue learning, catch up on missed work, and prepare for their exams despite the challenges they now face.

💰✨ MONEY SMART KIDS KICKS OFF AT BROMPTON PRIMARY! 🎉📚

On May 15th, the Education Jamaica Outreach Team made a meaningful stop at Brompton Primary School in St. Elizabeth to launch the first installment of our MONEY SMART KIDS financial literacy workshop series! 🚀

Money Smart Kids is designed for early childhood students—from Kindergarten 3 to Grade 2—this workshop is all about making financial education fun and accessible!

During our session, Grade 2 students explored key money concepts like saving, budgeting, and growing their money in a way that’s engaging and easy to understand.

Through interactive discussions, playful activities, and new financial terms, we sparked their curiosity about how money works in their everyday lives. To top it all off, we left them with a small token to help them start building their savings journey! 💡💸

Learning about money should be exciting, and seeing these young minds grasp financial principles with enthusiasm made this session truly special! 🏦💙

A huge THANK YOU to our incredible outreach team for their dedication, and to the teachers and administrators at Brompton Primary for their support in making this session a success! 🙌🏽

This is just the beginning—we’re excited for the upcoming installments in this workshop series as we continue empowering young minds across Jamaica to become MONEY SMART KIDS!

Stay tuned for more updates! 🔥📸
