“Miss Emmer… We’re Ready!”
- The Great MC

What a show to be a part of and what an opportunity.

After our closing show, a little boy, about 3 or 4 years old, made his way around the cast. He was dressed in his buff Spiderman man costume and held his mask in his right hand and web slinger in his left. He whispered under his breath, “Isaac” — his name. He told us that he enjoyed the show and we talked about how awesome it was that we could be superheroes together.

This show truly has taught me a lot. About race, belonging and connection. And I’m so glad that we could share that message with the little Edward’s out in the audience. The little Sara’s, Jackson’s, Andrea’s and so on. And although they may be just too young to understand today, I hope they at least enjoyed the bright lights and costumes, maybe for the first time in their little lives and that’s message enough.

Big Thank You to Jamal Howard, our amazing and lovely director who guided the show in only 5 weeks!? Crazy! You were so open and sweet every hour and minute of rehearsal and allowed us to really be vulnerable and dig into the souls of these “characters”, but at the end of the day, people. And we appreciate you for that.

“And these children that you spit on, as they try to change their worlds, are immune to your consultations. They’re quite aware of what they’re going through.”
- David Bowie
