Still in Japan but came to Okinawa a couple days back where the Sheraton Resort gives me access for 2 hours everyday to this machine and has all you can drink specials for 90 minutes. I would have done a great deal of damage a few decades back.

Amanda and I had an adventure today, taxi’ed to a glass beach near one of the Marine bases where everything was closed until 5 except for one place and Uber drives didn’t want to come to take us back to the resort. We found the one food place open in town and asked if they could help with the taxi. He made a call and we had a ride in 5 minutes along with a corn dog and fried potato wedges. The driver was the taxi dispatcher I guess because young Marines kept calling about every 2 minutes asking for rides to the PX or Armory. He’d repeat the location and say 5 minutes or 7 minutes and radio other drivers. He spoke maybe a dozen English words and the trust of those young voices coming across the phone was amazing. You could tell the older Marines because they would just say “to PX or from Armory” keeping confusion to a minimum. While younger guys would speak politely and use connecting words. Put Kyoto on your lists, we haven’t scratched the surface of the this place. I think I could spend years here and still have things to discover. SO MANY RESTAURANTS AND TEA HOUSES. We did one of my favorite activities today, bicycle tour. Peddle assisted e-bikes propelled us from shrine to shrine, one with ceiling boards taken from the floors of a temple where samurai died in battle. I’ll need to watch the series Shogun to catch up on these guys lives. Learned about geisha and the lives they live. Trust me on adding this city to your lists, I’d for sure come back if anyone asked me. taken in 京都北野天満宮 by @edwardwade

Morning in Kyoto, we took a long walk through the Imperial Gardens. The original Capital and home to the Emperor before they moved to Tokyo in 1869. I am quickly falling for Kyoto. We came across at least 5 groups along our walk practicing baseball, kids seeing of they can become the next Othani. I overhead the coaches talking about how to build a 5 leg parlay and hit the slider. Meanwhile I feel old after watching the Tyson Paul fight. taken in Kyoto Imperial Palace by @edwardwade

A travel day today, we took the bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto. Comfortable smooth and fast but I will not get into fast trains for the states, maybe in Trumps 3rd term. (That there is a third rail joke guys lighten up) My first impressions of Kyoto, amazing. Saw a geisha, oh, and Mt Fuji from the train. Third day in Tokyo, we went to the Imperial Gardens and had a nice walk back to our hotel. While I think it’s still too early for Christmas decorations here in Tokyo they don’t have the same hang ups. Second day in Tokyo, we had a private tour and learned how to use the subway. So clean but you cannot find a trashcan anywhere. May get McDonalds tomorrow not sure, I was in charge of planning so we’ll be playing it all by ear. by @edwardwade

Moved to Florida today, unrelated the first house was the fastest house that I have ever seen with my own two eyes, tornado records should not count, it was clocked at 83mph. The second set up was slower I thing because of the camber on the porch, 71mph. I think the dog is broken. by @edwardwade

Made sure Betsy got settled in at U of Hawaii. I will admit that I am envious of her. If you like asain foods, Honolulu has more options than you could count, she’s a bike ride from amazing beaches, the view from her residence is amazing, and there are breathtaking hikes all around. I am looking forward to west coast track meets in the spring. Also, for the third year in a row I am leaving my daughter in the path of a hurricane, I think it’s a sign for us to understand that Betsy herself is a force of nature not to be taken lightly.
