Reflecting on Ironman Oceanside 70.3. It was my first shot at the distance, so I came in with few expectations, but still left a little disappointed. My legs just weren’t there on the bike - I know I am capable of doing better than that.

On the other hand, I think I had a decent run considering I didn’t really do any specific half marathon prep.

It was also a great experience to see some of the greatest athletes in the sport up close. It really inspired me to try to get on their level. Special thanks to @swimmikerun for trying to take care of me at the end of the bike and on the run when the fatigue started setting in, to @gustav_iden for being so kind about me fangirling, and to @archmdz for cheering me on while zooming past me.🙏🏼

I am really excited to have a (hopefully better) crack at 70.3 distance in the future!⏭️

With Jones Beach 70.3 off the calendar, it’s now time to refocus and look forward to La Quinta in December.

My initial reaction was a mix of frustration and disappointment, because I felt like I had built up to this race very well.

I have however decided to re-channel this energy positively into my La Quinta block. This setback only added fuel to my fire.
