This week, we were delighted to welcome 60 GP trainees to our University and Professional Development Centre for a day of team building, creativity and collaboration.

From escape rooms and VR painting to marshmallow tower challenges and blindfolded obstacle courses, the day gave future GPs the opportunity to connect with colleagues, build relationships and take a well-earned break from the pressures of clinical practice.

Working alongside our NHS partners, we're proud to support the development, wellbeing and future success of the region's healthcare workforce.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the day such a success. 👏

It’s never too late to learn something new💐

A huge well done to Liz, one of our inspiring adult learners, who was featured on BBC Radio Suffolk sharing her experience of learning later in life.

From developing her floristry skills and creating beautiful wedding flowers, to exploring new creative interests through art workshops, Liz’s journey is a wonderful example of how learning can open new doors at any stage of life.

As Liz shared: “The classes here give people confidence to undertake other activities or courses.” “Learning provides positive outcome for people’s mental health.” “When you’re retired it’s great to learn new skills and develop new interests.”

We’re so proud of everything Liz has achieved and grateful that she shared her story. ✨

✨ A huge welcome to our new Year 12 students! ✨

Earlier this month, our annual Freshers' Fair brought together over 50 stalls from student societies, local organisations, universities, support services and more.

It's all part of helping our students feel welcomed, supported, and excited for the journey ahead. 💙

Manufacturing is shaping the future, and so are our apprentices.

To mark National Manufacturing Day, which was last Thursday, we're proud to celebrate an 18% increase in manufacturing apprenticeship starts across Eastern Education Group compared to this time last year. 📈

From engineers and machinists to metal fabricators, more learners are choosing careers in an industry that keeps the world moving. Through facilities like our state-of-the-art Gene Haas Foundation Centre in Bury St Edmunds and our campuses across Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, we're helping to develop the next generation of manufacturing talent.

As engineering apprentice Dominic puts it: "Engineering runs the world." 🌍

A huge congratulations also to our Executive Group Principal, Laraine Moody, who was recognised by Make UK for her contribution to supporting manufacturing in the UK. 👏

Calling all construction employers! Can you help us build the next generation of skilled tradespeople?

At West Suffolk College, our Level 2 and Level 3 Construction learners are ready to bring their skills off the workshop floor and onto real sites, and we're looking for local employers to offer them work placements this year.

• Carpentry & Joinery
• Plumbing
• Electrical Installation
• Bricklaying
• Painting & Decorating
• Groundworks
• Property Maintenance

Why it's worth your time:
✅ Flexible | 1–2 days a week around college, or a block week in the holidays
✅ Learners already have real skills - this isn't work experience from scratch
✅ No cost, low admin - we handle the checks and paperwork
✅ A genuine chance to spot and grow future talent for your business
✅ Learner will have CSCS card if required for access to site

This comes as the government invests £600 million to train up to 60,000 more skilled construction workers nationally - employers who get involved now are helping shape that pipeline.

If your business could host even one learner this year, get in touch construction@easterneducationgroup.ac.uk or comment below.
