Today is a day of mixed emotions as I honor 2 incredible women who shaped my life: my mom, Nativa Jean-Pierre and my grandma Alia Calixte. Yesterday marked 15 years since my mom passed away, a day before Mother’s Day in 2009. Though these women are no longer with us, their spirits continue to guide and inspire me every day.

My grandma lived a life of kindness. Her wisdom, resilience and strength was always a source of comfort to me.

My mom Nativa, was selflessness and compassion personified. Her dedication to helping marginalized communities left a mark on everyone she touched. It is through her that I learned what it means to live a life of service and positively impacting people’s lives.

As I celebrate my recent graduation from grad school this month, I do so with my heart heavy, knowing that mom and grandma, cannot share such an important milestone with me. But I feel great pride knowing that I continue to carry their legacy forward.

Today, Lòlòt and Nativa, I celebrate you with gratitude and love. I honor your memory and hope to continuing your legacy of service.

Happy Heavenly Haitian Mother’s Day manman. I heartbreakingly miss you and forever love you ❤️❤️❤️ by @eejean_pierre

Reflecting on the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington, we honor the bravery and vision of those who marched. We remember not just the steps taken but the dreams articulated. While we acknowledge the progress made since that historic day, our journey towards true equality and justice persists. The recent racially motivated killing of 3 Black souls in Florida is a stark reminder: while we celebrate progress, we must also confront the ongoing racial challenges we continue to face. 60 years later, let's honor the promise of justice and equality that the March echoed and let’s ensure that the dream is not deferred any longer. #marchonwashigton by @eejean_pierre

Last week, I wrapped up my internship at the White House. What a journey it's been! I've learned more than I could have ever imagined. Shoutout to the friends and mentors who made it an unforgettable experience! Can't wait to see where life takes us next.
