Living on a 'knee jerk reaction'...and cheese..

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Yep...That's all Folks! To say this year has been tough {both in business & personal life} would be an understatement. I've tried...I really have, but it's time to hang up the gloves. I know it's been difficult for many..and good luck to those of you who choose to battle on..but I'm done b4 I bleed out. It'll be a fairly long process...two fairs to do in Sept/Oct, most of the rest will go back to aution or fellow dealers. Prices negotiable! 😉 In the mean time thank you all so much for your likes & follows. It's been a blast at times and I've made some great friends.
So, what next? Hmmm...I think a bloody long drive is on the books! Cheers y'all...thanks for all the fish! 👋 by @eekamouseinteriors

A smart set of for dining chairs by Glyngøre Stolefabrik, Denmark. Perfectly serviceable, but two of the seats show more wear than the others. I've thought about tackling them, but have decided to sell "as is".
They'll be on the website shortly..or DM if interested. 👍

Designed in 1958 by Robert Welch for Old Hall and commissioned by P&O for their ships, the Oriana range is as sleek and up to date as it ever was. Style in stainless steel! This, and several other things of goodness, will be added to my website tomorrow. 😉

SOLD! It's been over three years since I last got my hands on this naughty little minx from Nathan and I was gutted to see the last one go. As far as I know this model is called the Citadel, and along with the Caspian they are up there with my British made favourites. I love the simplicity...more in line with the Scandinavian philosophy than many of our home brands of the time. Way to go Nathan! 👏👏

Lyonel Feninger (1871 - 1956) "Church of the Minorities 11" (1918) An authorised lithographic print with Hanfstaegl Druck, Munich blind stamp. 85cm x 68cm

Lyonel Feininger

Lyonel Feininger was an artist associated with several Modernist movements in the early decades of the 20th century. Renowned for his versatility, he produced paintings, woodcuts, comics, drawings, photographs and wood carvings. Feininger was also a major figure at the Bauhaus school, where he directed the prints workshop.

He was born in New York in 1871. His parents were both musicians, and when he left for Germany in his late teens, they believed it was to study music. Feininger, however, was attracted to the visual arts and enrolled at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Hamburg.

At the start of his career, he had success as a political cartoonist for German periodicals and as a comic-strip illustrator for The Chicago Tribune. The style of that work fed into his early paintings: whimsical scenes of German village life, rendered in unnatural colours and featuring elongated figures.

Feininger moved briefly to Paris, and his style changed for good in around 1912, after he had assimilated some of the lessons of Cubism, Orphism and Futurism. His pictures now boasted multi-faceted forms and planes of translucent colour, which created a sense of looking through a prism.

His work so impressed the Blaue Reiter (‘Blue Rider’) group of German Expressionists that Feininger was invited to exhibit with them. As the years passed, architecture became an ever-greater feature in his art. The spire of the Gothic church in Gelmeroda, a village outside Weimar, would provide a constant source of inspiration.

After World War I, Walter Gropius appointed Feininger to the faculty of the Bauhaus. Gropius also used his woodcut Cathedral to illustrate the cover of the school’s manifesto.

Hanfstaengl Druck refers to art prints produced by the legendary German publishing house, Kunstverlag Franz Hanfstaengl. Founded in Munich in 1833 by lithographer and photographer Franz Seraph Hanfstaengl, the company became renowned worldwide for its pioneering work in lithography, photogravure, and high-quality art reproductions. by @eekamouseinteriors

KMSKA Museum Antwerp. I've always loved Anthony Gormleys' art...so it was a proper treat to visit this exhibition and it did not disappoint!
Antwerp itself is incredible..vibrant, cultural, not too touristy, colourful and oh so relaxed. I'd never thought to stop while passing..but I'm glad I did. Honest guv, it's worth it!
