i was hoping my next post would be me celebrating making it through the hardest six months of my life… how all the things i learned and lost are preparing me for greater things but im not sure what this one is supposed to teach me. dad, selfishly i need to tell you that 22 years with you was not enough for me. i dont know when i will find the words to express how i feel about losing you as a father. the duality of being upset at seeing you in pain but so grateful just to be able to see you alive… . not knowing what to say or do to make it all better but wishing i was able to have last words with you...

i am so proud of the way you fought. you may not say much but we all saw the pain you endured for some time now. all of us watched you fight to stay with your family day by day. i’m so sorry for all the time we took for granted with one another. it’s funny to look back and realize how so many things just don’t even matter when everything is all said and done. i’m happy i got to wear your number for my last year. i didn’t know at the time why i was so compelled to wear it but now i can see. i’m happy that in your absence i will have two baby siblings to help heal the pain. and i will get to tell them what a hardworking, cool ass dad you are. how he made sacrifices none of us could see just so you could stay with us as long as possible. the hundreds of lives you have touched is all but too noticeable today, but before you were anyone’s mentor, anyone’s teacher, anyone’s dj…. you were MY father, and the weight that carries will sit on my heart for the rest of my time here on earth.

i asked God for two weeks, but he needed you with him sooner…. and for that i need to be okay finding peace with. you excelled at what you were called upon this Earth to do and now you get to rest with the best of them. i love you forever old man 🤍.

to long beach, thank you for taking a kid out of the south and throwing her out in the world. you showed me the things i truly value in my world, and i will love my long beach girls for the rest of my life.

to tennessee, thank you for showing me all that being a student athlete can be. where having a community full of amazing people and resources that continuously pour into you can take you. there is nothing better than the Lady Vol culture and i will never forget knoxville because of it.

last, to georgia. thank you for bringing me back to where it all began. thank you for helping me practice patience, have gratitude, and understand the weight that i have in this world. how if i will it there is nothing that can get in my way.

three states, three schools, and 5 years later all i have to say is you never know what plans God has for you. some people see the transfers, see the tears and see the injuries and wonder if it’s all worth it. there isn’t a day that passes that i don’t feel gratitude for the sport i am blessed to play. so to volleyball, to the four hour aau practices, the national championships, the laughs, the lessons, the memories and these three completely different, incredibly eye-opening, heart-wrenching programs that have showed me amazing things. thank you.
