I’ve become more conscious about watering the parts of me that I’d like to grow. I’m my own garden. the more I give into fear, the more my looming fears and anxieties grow. the more I indulge in creativity and play, the more inspired and free I become. the more that I nurture myself and my intrinsic interests, the more fruitful and full my life is. the reverse is also true. if you starve out something, it will wither. it’s simple yes, but it keeps me conscious about evaluating my choices and the life that I’m creating for myself. there’s very little time in this life to feed the things you don’t want to be constant in your life. So I ask myself — do I like who I’m becoming — am I conscious about the choices I’ve made today or what I’ve chosen to consume. if none of my current habits ever changed for the rest of my life would I be happy with myself. the questions that are worth asking myself are less about defining a singular answer and more about exploring the feelings and reflections that arise when thinking critically about my life & choices thus far. regardless of my answers I find that every year I become more aware of my own agency, and my vision for what’s possible in my life is renewed and expanded.
