Weve recently moved into a rental after owning our own homes, renovating them and then living in our custom renovated vintage caravan. This is all new for us and the thought of just living in this space as it is just isnt for me. Some think im crazy but its just who I am. I love creating spaces that feel like home, that are fun, fit our vibe and challenge me. So while we rent and save for a home follow along while I makeover this rental to feel like home but rental friendly of course and on a budget as like I said we are saving for a home.
Are you team just live in the rental or make it your own while in it?

Rental tour 🏘
The time has come to but down roots for abit and have some routine and community especially for Hendrix. Initially I was so upset about this and constantly questioning if the location we chose was the right one and if I could be happy just renting and the last few days have confirmed we definitely are doing the right thing, ive got my creative spark back and im so excited to turn this very blue beach rental into something incredible. So if you like diys, makeovers, budget friendly creations then stick around and follow along as we transform this rental into a Mediterranean beach shack.

Its honestly completely different to what we had thought it would be when we sold up and hit the road. We thought we would find our happy every after, the place that instantly felt like home, the place that people just felt like our people. Unfortunately that didn't happen, the reality was that a few days or a week in a place wasn't enough to really tell if we would love it. There was so many factors to consider realestate prices, cost of living, insurance prices, weather and I know to some they'd say we are over thinking it but when some of the places we loved are flooding every year, or constantly fighting mould issues or the humidity is setting off my skin condition then we had to think with our heads. We also thought we would have found land and our plan was to build a shed house and to start again, that is still the dream.

The truth is right now we still dont know where that place is that is home but for now we are settling down in the fleurieu peninsula near victor harbour and renting which again is a whole new chapter for us. We just want to see how we like it, see how geoff goes commuting and take it day by day. The fleurieu peninsula is absolutely gorgeous, some of the most beautiful beaches, best wineries and stunning scenery so we are getting excited. The community also seems friendly and encouraging so im looking forward to that. Stay tuned to see how this unfolds.

"Its the end of an era" and im going to be completely honest and raw with you guys.
At this very point im feeling overwhelmed and lost, nervous but excited. Its like being on an emotional roller-coaster ride at the moment. Im going to share it all with you guys.
I understand this is the point travellers start to lose followers as we no longer are sharing that content however I hope you guys stick around to see our life after travel unfold and how we go in a rental coz if you've been here from the start you know we love renovating and creating so it will be interesting how this chapter unfolds. Let's not forget we are relocating to a whole new place. New community, new people, new school, new everything. What does that even look like? The last time I moved was when I was 18 so that was a long time ago so this is going to be completely different and its daughting if im truthful. One thing life on the road taught me was resilience and for that im grateful
If you made it here thank you and we hope you like this next chapter 🫶

Wise words from @martenewallace and words we will forever implement in our lives. We to used to just exist in the everyday and felt comfortable but there was always something missing. We had a few wakeup calls that we will be forever grateful for and we decided to take them and start living the life we wanted and stop existing in one that we just felt comfortable. This isn't a sign to say you have to sell up and travel like us however I can recommend it 😉 its a wake up call to stop just being comfortable and actually get out of your comfort zone and do the thing you've been promising yourself every new years because incase you haven't noticed its the middle of march and you're still comfortable.
Bring on our next adventure even though its scaring the sh*t out of me 😬🫣

After travelling Australia full-time, it's funny the things that start to feel like absolute luxuries again.

Things we never thought we'd be this excited about.

A couch to curl up on.

Long hot showers without watching the water tank.

Doing washing whenever we want instead of planning around laundromats.

And the one we’re probably most excited about… sport and community for our family again.

Life on the road has been the most incredible chapter of our lives and we wouldn't change it for the world.

But the truth is, the little things start to feel pretty special too.

If you’ve travelled full-time, what was the ONE thing you were excited to have again?

Something no one talks about when travel life is ending…
The noise in your head when you start thinking about normal life again.

Bills.
Schedules.
Routine.
The rat race.

After two years of freedom, it’s a lot to process.

Please tell me we’re not the only ones who felt this.
Fellow travel families did you struggle with this?

Im sure Geoff feels like running everytime I mention " I have another idea". 🤣
In my defence I was all set to do this one myself but he wanted to join in the fun.
Such a quick easy diy that has added a bit more fun to the bunk area.
Thats the beauty of having a vintage van when i get bored i can just have a change up.
Would you add tiles in your van?

What can I say Geoff really had no choice 🤭🤣.

At first he thought id gone mad and wasn't on board with my crazy idea. The more I showed him it can be done and so many others were out there doing it, the more he realised I was onto something. We were just existing and not really living and people our age were getting sick around us and that was the wake up call we needed and the final sign for him to then say yes its a brilliant idea. Lets do it. We can honestly say we've had absolutely no regrets about our choice and would if we went back we'd chose to do it all over again.
So if you've been on the fence then take this as your sign ✨️✨️

We didn’t leave to escape life.
We left to remember how we actually want to live it.

And now that we’re talking about settling again
I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t scare me.

Life on the road stripped everything back.
It showed us what matters.
It slowed us down.
It brought us closer.

My biggest fear isn’t going back to normal
It’s slowly drifting back into a life that doesn’t align with who we’ve become.

The rush.
The pressure.
The constant chasing.
The busy that steals family time without us noticing.

Travel changed us.
And I don’t want to forget that version of us.

Maybe the goal isn’t to avoid society…
Maybe it’s to re-enter it differently.

Intentional.
Present.
Protective of what matters most.

If you’ve ever stepped away from the “expected” path…
did you struggle going back too?

Before you sell everything to travel Australia full-time, think about these 5 things that we wished we'd researched abit more.

Property:
If you sell, can you afford to get back in?
If you rent it out, are you prepared for tenant stress while living remotely?

Budget:
Decide early — are you going all in on experiences, or travelling wisely with a plan?
Money pressure can change everything and ill admit every now and again i got caught up with the Jones as they say 🫣

Setup:
You don’t need the biggest or most aesthetic rig.
Buy what suits your family and your budget — not Instagram, trust us we saw so many different setups and soon learnt that the biggest and most expensive isn't always the right one or the most practical.

Timeline:
If you’re limited by time, include things that are important to you not what instagram is showing you that are must sees.
If you have no end date, enjoy the slowness and dont get caught up with others race. Your journey is different so remember its ok to press the snooze button and linger a little longer in those rock pools.
Comparison will steal your joy.

Vehicle:
Reliable beats flashy every single time.
We met countless families in expensive setups stuck on the side of the road. Do your research. Geoff spent so much time choosing our tow rig and it came down to its the most reliable and if anything was to happen every farmer Joe has a part for our car. Sounds silly but you’ll thank me if you brake down in the middle of nowhere.

Travelling Australia full-time is incredible — but clarity before you go will save you stress later.

Save this for when “one day” turns into “now.”
