I dreamed I forgot to set the frame rate on a shoot. 🙃 So I made the cheat sheet I wish I’d had: what 24, 23.976, 25, 30, 29.97 and drop frame actually mean for your recorder, why a tiny mismatch causes big sync problems, and a pre-roll checklist. A frame rate is a team decision, and it can change mid-project. Ask before you roll, then ask again. 💾 Save it for your next shoot
📤 Send it to a sound friend
💬 Which one did you get wrong first? One last thing… if the camera runs a high fps (=slo mo) no need to run sound 😅 #soundmixer #creativeindustry #framerate #productionsound by @effy_fc

Even after years working in the industry I struggle to remember cables names. Since I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one, I put together all of the main cables used in location sound so we can all go back and quickly search what we need. I hope this kind of resource can be helpful and I’d be happy to make more - share in the comment what kind of equipment you need to learn more about! Happy cables! #audioengineering #setlife #cablesalad #soundmixer by @effy_fc

How many times have you heard it? Somehow the general public has a really fun perspective of what a sound engineer does and I collected here some of the most popular ones. Which one have you heard the most? Sound engineer? Oh you’re a dj! By far the most common one to date! At the second place we find the very generic title “music producer”. Something that had changed throughout the years and now often results in a one person show - recording, mixing, rough master, production, artist. The FOH engineer, another very popular figure that is known to the general public. They might not know the difference between FOH and monitor or stage hands but they know someone is there! Sound designer is something people use interchangeably between sound engineer and music producer. To some they are the same thing :) As a technician you automatically are expected to have a studio, your own, maybe a bedroom one. As a sound engineer-designer-whateverelse, you may as well make beats or be a full composer. The amount of times I was asked how to best isolate a space. To be honest, that’s all about physics and calculations… and a totally different branch of science. Not everyone would be knowledgeable on this after audio engineering studies! Foleys are amongst the hidden sound professions as well as the most used in the movie industries (at least before sound libraries). They are called Foley ARTISTS for a reason! Did you know cracking a celery bunch can sound like breaking bones? Which one have you been called the most? Share it with your friends and colleagues ✨ #relatable #creativeindustry #soundengineer by @effy_fc

Who said that working behind the camera doesn’t mean looking after yourself? @unleashia and @yesstyle gave me the perfect way to get ready for a shooting day, starting from the night before. Cleanse your skin well, get that beauty rest and put on some glam before you leave to work! You can get all the products on yesstyle and use my code: YESEFFY10 for a little extra discount! #unleashia #abcsorbetcleanser #YesStyle #yesstyleinfluencers #bubblegumcleanser by @effy_fc

Put a finger down if you thought the name of this brand was bumble🐝 at least once! For episode 2 of quiet on set, I wanted to talk about the brand behind products like the wind bubble, spacer bunble and other accessories, we use a lot on set. This is @bubblebeeindustries story ✨ Follow for more similar content and remember that when we shoot with sound we need “quiet on set” #quietonset #soundmixer #creativeindustry #audiohistory #bubblebeeindustries by @effy_fc

Quiet on set is a format I started to showcase audio brands we all use and love. We are often so used to them that we don’t necessarily know the history behind our beloved brands. Let’s kick start with @ambientrecording , a Munich based brand that has developed boom poles and the first audio sync devices between camera and sound.
