The yellow reverie. Oil canvas 100 x 115 cm 2025

The Yellow Reverie

There’s a place I return to often, though I’m not sure it exists anywhere but in paint and thought.

A yellow world — not gold, not lemon — something warmer, thicker. Like the color of time when it’s full. That’s the air. Everything floats in it.

At the center of it all, a painter’s palette hovers, heavy with color. Some hues I know by name. Others... I think I invented by accident. It’s strange how something meant for making can become a kind of landing place.

The rooster always finds its place there. Proud. Bright. Present. As if it belongs there more than I do. Beneath it, drifting almost silently, is a small boat. A barge, really, built for no one but one. There’s no map, no route — just soft smoke rising from its little chimney. I don’t know where it goes — only that it moves. That’s enough.

Up above, flowers hang in the air like thoughts that haven’t landed. They ask nothing. They just remind — gently — that some things must be tended even when they look weightless.

And far off, the moon watches. Still and silver. Not close enough to touch, but always near. I never speak to it, but I feel like it hears anyway.

This scene isn’t a memory, or a dream exactly. More like a space between things. Between work and rest. Noise and silence. Company and solitude. by @efrain_vidal
