𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗩𝗘 — Reimagining the Bottle Factory as a Place for Making and Gathering by Sevil Efendi ( @efsevendi )

Living Archive reimagines the former Bottle Factory on Old Kent Road as a civic space where making, gathering and memory coexist. Responding to the building’s layered history as a bottle factory, furniture workshop, church and event space, the project introduces a new layer of occupation: a public workshop and public house.

The workshop is imagined as a bright and generous environment for repairing, upcycling and making, while a Victorian-inspired public house becomes a place for gathering and exchange. At the centre, a series of vitrines connect the two, allowing objects and works in progress to become part of a continuously evolving archive. Here, giving objects a second life becomes a way of building community.

Sevil Efendi is an architect and interior designer from Azerbaijan who has worked across hospitality and residential projects in Milan and Brussels. At the Royal College of Art, she explored adaptive reuse through a hands-on and experimental approach. She is particularly interested in details, materials, furniture and objects, and how small-scale interventions can shape a larger spatial experience. She currently works within a furniture design practice in London, exploring the city’s evolving design landscape. by @efsevendi
