An airport stop with the potential to save a life ❤️

From 3am until 10pm today, our EHAAT team is at @stn_airport Restart a Heart Day, showing passengers and staff how simple performing CPR can be, and the difference it could make.

Thank you to everyone who has stopped to learn, our brilliant team and London Stansted Airport for supporting us. Together, we’re helping more people build the confidence to act when someone needs them most.

When Georgia found her mum Alison unresponsive, she called 999 and started CPR.

“I'd recently renewed my first aid training but never imagined I'd have to put it into practice. I was absolutely terrified, but I started CPR when the 999 call handler instructed me to. We were later told that the CPR had been so effective that Mum's brain hadn't realised her heart had stopped.”

Her quick action helped save Alison’s life.

Research has consistently shown that women are less likely to receive bystander CPR in public compared to men. Worries about touching a woman's chest, or being accused of inappropriate behaviour, hold people back.

Earlier this year, Adam Carr from our CPR Smart team talked to Jenny, co-founder of @braoffdefibon, about what stops people stepping in, and how we change that.

Helping more people feel confident to step in when every second counts.

Over the summer, we met with MPs; Dr Neil Hudson, Dame Rebecca Harris, Richard Holden and David Taylor to discuss improving bystander CPR rates across Essex and Hertfordshire.

We also showcased CPR Smart™, our programme giving young people the knowledge, skills and confidence to act when someone is in cardiac arrest.

Together, we can raise awareness and help more people access CPR education.
