Training for a half Ironman isn’t just a fitness goal; it’s my way of refusing to let age and complacency win. Last year was a whirlwind of chaos, politics, business upheavals, you name it. I needed something dramatic to change my mind set and motivate me.

So, I chose the toughest challenge out there. Waking up before dawn? That’s my new reality. My body aches, and sleep is hard to come by, but in spite of that discomfort, I’m not giving up. I’m also finding a lot of hormonal challenges that no one seems to be able to answer. I’ve hired a coach, am going to PT and I plan to lean into the crazy community of other people that think this is a good idea.

Training demands serious fuel. Staying hydrated is non-negotiable, and I’m overhauling my eating habits. It’s a grind, but I’m adapting and figuring it out.

Swimming has always been difficult and I was never really that great at it. I wasn’t into the technical stuff, but now I’m devouring swim videos and looking forward to hitting the pool. This challenge is forcing me to confront my weaknesses head-on, and I’m trying to embrace every moment. But honestly I’m full of self doubt and not at all sure I can do this.

In the past couple of years, I’ve crushed two half marathons and a 10K, landing in the top 2 of my age group both times. I went in just wanting to finish and discovering that competitive edge was a game-changer. Everyone around me was like duh. Of course you’re competitive. lol.

This October, I’m taking on this challenge in Portugal. Why not tackle it in a breathtaking location! by @eharrisonhspr

You always wonder what your kids will be like when they become adults. You do your best to teach them, love them and give them confidence and a work ethic! Then it’s up to them. Many of you enjoy following our travels so here’s a taste of our last adventure. A work-cation in Guatemala. We explored the ruins in Tikal. Watched the sunset, listened to the Howler 🐒 Quick flight to Antigua. We lucked out spending the week of April there for Easter, or Semana Santa, in Guatemala a grand religious and cultural celebration that commemorates the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Christ, with unique traditions like the creation of “alfombras” (carpets) in the streets. The celebration involves processions, vigils, and a mix of religious devotion and cultural festivities. Ended the week watching the Volcanos break thru the clouds at Lake Atitlán. Happy New Year! 🥂I’ve never been a big fan of New Years and I’ve struggled to even make it to midnight This year was an exception. We went to the most amazing party. Filled with people dressed all in white - From many different generations. We danced until the sun came up over the ocean. It was beautiful and peaceful and a great reminder that we should try to live in the moment and not let the day to day trials and tribulations get in the way of appreciating how lucky we are. Happy Holidays from all of us to you. Brazil is an amazing place! On August 14th I turned 60. I was in the worst mood, was at the tail end of getting over COVID which I had managed to avoid until right up to my birthday and I was struggling with turning a number which in my mind marked the end of being “Young” I’m sure I’m not alone here. I really had to adjust my mood and put aside all that to feel grateful and happy for all that I have. My health, my family, especially my husband Keith who planned the entire event and put up with my anxiety and complaining and my two gorgeous girls (somehow we never got a photo of all of us) amazing friends and my work fam who are an amazing group of people. I think that’s what a birthday party is really about. Especially when you mark a milestone. It’s an opportunity to look around and feel great about where you are and to feel loved and appreciated.
