ANNOUNCING: 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘺 𝘌𝘺𝘦𝘴 The new album, available from @eiderdownrecords A 31-minute expedition through time and space. 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘺 𝘌𝘺𝘦𝘴 finds Mike Horn and Jarrod Annis exploring darker, more immersive territory. Layers of hypnotic drones, field recordings, melodic guitar, and lap steel unfold somewhere between raga, shoegaze, and cosmic Americana. As Stefan Beck (Golden Brown / Prairiewolf) writes: “Over an immersive thirty one minutes, Mike Horn and Jarrod Annis craft something more nebulous and less immediately knowable than any previous release under the Seawind of Battery moniker.” “Heavy Eyes opens up new paths and possibilities for Seawind of Battery, patiently unfolding over its extended runtime and promising new heights (or depths) to be explored.” And as Ernie Francestine puts it: “This is a statement piece.” 💜 TWO LIMITED EDITION PHYSICAL RELEASES: 📼 CASSETTE Exclusively through the Eiderdown Records Bandcamp store. 💿 CD Exclusively through the Seawind of Battery Bandcamp store. We’re incredibly proud of this one and can’t wait for you to hear it! LINK IN BIO 🔗 Layout and Design by the untouchable @ianbranchdesign by @eiderdownrecords
Happy one year anniversary to Albumen! A hypnotic collaboration between Mike Watt & Greg Kelley, backed up by Seattle’s own Hound Dog Taylor’s Hand & Noel Kennon. “Albumen is a new project that arose from a conversation between experimental trumpeter Greg Kelley and stalwart punk/rock bassist Mike Watt on the latter's Watt From Pedro podcast. The conversation ended with a casual suggestion of "trading tracks" and, after some procrastination, Kelley sent some solo trumpet tracks to Watt who quickly turned them around with an added layer of bass. Further procrastination followed, then Kelley had the idea to send the tracks over to his Hound Dog Taylor's Hand bandmate, bassist John Seman, to take on some arrangement duties and flesh out the skeletal bass/trumpet duos. John enlisted the rest of the Hound Dogs (Jeffrey Taylor on guitar & Mark Ostrowski on drums) and violist Noel Kennon and transported the project from a seed to a harvest.” Much love to @ordinaryfanfares @wattfrompedro @hound_dog_taylors_hand @noel_________________ for letting Eiderdown be part of this wild ride... Derbyshire guitarist @nickjonahdavis recorded his new album at Black Bay Studio in the Outer Hebrides: windswept hills and clear water, and you can hear that starkness and raw beauty in the music. “Rose Delta Rising” is a band record. Neal Heppleston on bass, Joe Danks on drums, Richard Birkin on strings. Check out the video for ‘Spoonbill’, showing now on KLOF, a slide piece that utilises Neal Heppleston’s spare bass notes, Joe Danks’ quiet drum patterns and Richard Birkin’s subtle string arrangement. The extra instruments frame a clear and precise slide refrain and yet further enhance the spaces in the music, when each player allows a beat as part of the sound. Elsewhere, the album moves from the melancholy drama of the ‘Whistle on the Woolf’ to the eight-minute minimalist build of ‘Peter and the Lark.’ Rose Delta Rising is a very elegant and accomplished set that feels like a distillation of Nick’s work over the years. Musically adventurous, impeccably recorded and performed; his best expression yet. Out today on @cardinalfuzz and @eiderdownrecords Glenn Kimpton’s full review is up now on KLOF Mag 🎸🏔️🎶🎧 📸Natasha Dixon 🎨 David Hand by @eiderdownrecords
