Getting shoes is a process. I can’t just grab something off the shelf and wear it. These pink Converses are cute—but they’re going to the cobbler first for a custom 4cm lift. Then I wait. Then I pay. Then (hopefully) they fit right. This is just my normal, and honestly? It’s expensive and time-consuming. But it’s what I need to walk without pain. If you have LLD, you get it. 👟

So 2.5 years ago I had to throw out literally every shoe I owned and start completely over. No idea what I was doing. Just diagnosed, terrified, and desperate to not be in pain anymore.

These Birkenstocks with the 4cm lift? They saved me. I’ve worn them almost every single day since. They’re beat up, they’re broken in, they’re home.

If you’re starting from scratch after finding out about your LLD, you don’t need to overthink it. You just need one good pair that works. These happened to be mine.

I’m 36 years old and spent two decades being told my chronic pain was “psychological,” “anxiety,” or “all in my head.” Twenty years of dismissed appointments, wrong diagnoses, and specialists who made me feel crazy for trusting my own body. So yeah, that specialist had it coming. Sometimes justice requires a car and a gas pedal.
