Audiobook Release! I had the pleasure of narrating “Japanese Tales of Mystery and Imagination” by Edogawa Ranpo. Like Ranpo, I’m an Edgar Allen Poe fan and this collection was both a delight and an insightful look at literary history. If you want to hear the story behind the author’s name, don’t skip the foreword and introduction! This is my first Audible title so it’s special to me as a audiobook narrator milestone. #sponsored Everyone tells you sleep is super important for your health. And they’re right. I’ve been trying to get bused to back sleeping because it’s better for my airway but I gave up. I’ve been a side sleeper all my life. I tried to become a back sleeper it it just hasn’t taken. I also have mild scoliosis so I like a supportive pillow and have been using the standard memory foam kind - I like them especially for the few minutes I’m on my back before I switch to my side but they’ve always felt less comfortable that way. Enter this Olive + Crate customizable cooling memory foam pillow in a crescent shape built to give space for my shoulder. Happy last day of AANHPI Heritage Month! I hope you’ve had a great month! I’m happy to narrate this snippet from Erica Victoria Espejo’s work in progress, MIDNIGHT ANGELZ.

Heartbreak from her teen idol didn’t stop Celine from starting a pop idol group where she writes and sings about dreams, heartbreak, and dancing the drama away.

It’s awkward for Celine to start again at a new high school in a new city. She befriends two girls who love karaoke and fashion as much as she does. They start a pop idol group at school, the MIDNIGHT ANGELZ.

Celine must decide if she wants to follow her passion for music or obey her strict family’s aspirations for her. And when her summer crush listens to her songs, do they stand another chance at romance?

Will you dance with the angelz in this early 2000s YA coming-of-age romcom?

Erica Victoria Espejo grew up in Carson, CA, a suburb of Los Angeles. She was raised on Sailor Moon and Broadway musicals, music and girl power is her heart and soul. Growing up Filipino American, Erica loves karaoke. “Into the Groove” by Madonna is her go-to karaoke song.

Erica has been writing since high school, producing radio dramas of her fanfiction. This talent earned her a full scholarship to university. She also started blogging about fandom and cosplay and created Scarlet Rhapsody, the longest running active archive of fandom history by a BIPOC woman.

She published her first book, “THE FANGIRL DIARIES” (2025), a memoir of the intersection of girlhood and sexuality anime fandom in an era before streaming and social media.

She has worked as a high school counselor for over 10 years empowering marginalized young people. When she’s not at work, she often leads talks at comic and anime conventions about fandom history. She lives in Irvine with her two cats, Karma and Nico who help her regulate her AuDHD.
